If I could find a company to chrome paint/plate plastic cheap I could have sold three times as many McLaren grilles. The process of chrome painting is expensive. The paint alone is outrageous. My painter has the equipment to do it but has not messed around with it but says the paint is very expensive.

With that being said, doing chrome handles, mirrors or whatever else you want is just having enough money to do it. Like it has been said before, with enough money and time anything is possible.

That grill looks ok. It just doesnt look like it should be chrome though, you know?

I don't like the grill that much, but the handles are nice.

This is the only LS on 22s that sit right, if there were this 22x8 size wheels just different design I would put on my LS.

that much chrome looks tacky on a car unless it's a 1960's cadillac

Funny how style is cyclic. In the 60's and 70s, big American cars decked out with chrome everything was IN.

The we get to the 80's and early 90's, where ANYTHING chrome on a performance sedan..or even sports car..was a no-no, and viewed as very American. (Keep in mind this is when BMW and Mercedes were the kings of Sport Sedans. Period. End of Story. America had NO answer for them). In fact, you blacked out anything shiny, except for rims of course. But still, no chrome rims either. Polished aluminum yes, chrome no.

Then we get to the 2k era, and it's back to "give me as much chrome as possible".

Gotta love it. :-)

I don't know... I think it's all a matter of your own taste. I can't say that chrome is back into style and popularilty as it was back in the 60's and 70's... But there is certainly more than that of the 80's and 90s. Eitherway, it's all about taste... as for me, leave the chrome to the trucks and old cars... color code the new ones.

You have a point..I do recall the late 80's being filled with Benzes and BMW's where the owners removed the stock chrome model emblems, and replacing them with goldplated emblems..to match their gold basketweave BBS rims.

The Gold BBS rims were the shiznit! All the SCCA and IMSA cars ran the gold BBS with the polished lip back in the day!

If you had gold BBS rims, and either a Foha rubber spoiler (unpainted HEAVY front spoiler) or a Kaminari Body Kit and sheepskin seat covers on your Jetta or Maxima or 3 series BMW back in the day?

you were THE MAN. :D

Yeah, in Miami. Particularly popular with the "old and crusty" retirees. But so were simulated convertible tops and wide whitewall tires.

That reminds me...I remember a few months back reading about simulated conv. tops and why anyone would do that to an LS. Well, lo and behold I saw one as I was getting on the interstate one day.

I wish I could have taken a pic but I was shocked how ugly this thing looked. It reminded me of a Cadillac Deville and it just seemed to ruin the look of the Lincoln.

Maybe not surprising was the fact that the driver looked like she was in her early to late 50s.
Wish I could see it again, tho...

Now that I look at it again, I like the idea of the grill being chrome.. Not a bad idea.. Just maybe not the entire grill. Such as my LS is black, so Id leave the Grill Surround black to match the car & then the *mesh* chrome.. meh.. It did look good on the 22s.. Too much rim it seems though.

todd.. how would u know whats hot in miami if ur from CT?

the only reason i mentioned the gold was from all the movies i've seen from the 80's and early 90's with the cars on BBS rims with gold instead of chrome..

Ie. Paid in Full is one movie example..
