is the car coming equipped w/o a transmission? if theres no transmission in it i wouldn't buy it....but if its got a v8 and a tranny and test drove fine i would rather own that. i just bought a 2000 v8 ls with 75000 on the clock for same price. if the car your looking at test drives fine and is in decent condition i wish i would have came by it when i was looking to buy one.

My '03 has been great so far, but I have only owned it a month.

Why? You might as well ask how much an engine replacement costs, or a windshield replacement costs, or how much a driver's seat replacement costs. The transmission is not a service item; it has no replacement interval. If it's working properly, don't worry about it; if it is having problems, keep looking for a car with a tranny that isn't.
