Radio Station Display

I'm not sure what the actual name is but I'm having trouble with the feature that shows the FM radio station information (song title/artist/station name/format) on the '02 6-disc Alpine unit.

The information on some stations only cycles through or updates after I switch to another station and then back to the original. Is this an issue with the head unit or could it be the radio station itself having a wonky broadcast?

That's the Radio Data System (RDS) feature. It's explained in the manual at page 39. Here's a snippet of text from the manual to get you started.

Radio data system (RDS) feature
This feature allows your audio system
to receive text information from
RDS-equipped FM radio stations.

To activate RDS:
When in FM mode, press the
MENU control until RDS OFF displays.
Press the SEL control to engage this feature (RDS ON).

Its the LS's radio. Mine does the same thing. Ive been in other cars with this feature, and it always chnages/scrolls/updates all the time. The LS's one sucks if you ask me. Which is why i took it out, lol.

I've noticed the same behavior: some stations constantly scroll, and some don't. I think it's all in how the stations are sending out their RDS streams.

On both my '02 and '05 the RDS hasnt worked correctly. Some stations send the signal, some dont. But from my experiences its junk.

Its the LS's radio. My fiances dad has a Aviator, works great. Her mom has a Murano, works great as well.

Im sure the guys here who have the NAV screen have no problem.
