HID or not?

I was doing a search on this site to try and find a way to clear the cloudiness out of my 97 Mark VIII's headlights, and many people kept posting that converting to HID in their Marks was the best thing they've ever done, but don't they come with stock HIDs? Why do people have to convert? And is there an easy way to clean the cloudiness out of them? Thanks!

97-98's came stock with HID's, '96 LSC's came with HID's, there have been several articles on how to clear the headlights, do a search and pick which is best for you ;)

There is a thread I posted pictures in on taking the haze out of my 97 mark viii, do a search and you should turn up a 3 page thread on it.

I tried wet sanding and using different types of polish, it worked a bit, but still wasnt great. Then last week at work (carquest) we got a new headlight cleaner kit in. I bought it for $15. It came with 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper squares, and a tube of polish. I re-sanded them and buffed with the polish, they are perfect now. I suggest just buying a kit like I did, no other polish can compare to what they come with.

Ill get some pics up here in a bit.

This is after wet-sanding and polishing twice, once using automotive car polish, the other time with meguires plastic polish

This is after the "kit" that was purposely put together to clean headlight lenses. It was made by Bright Solutions Inc.

...make sure to tape off the area around the lights to avoid touching the chrome or paint with the sandpaper ;)

I wouldnt tape it off actually. The chrome missing on mine is from the tape pulling it off.

What kind of tape did you use? I'm sure it wasn't painters tape.
