I bought my 1997 Mark VIII about two months ago, and the main reason is because it had a hood ornament. It also has the chrome panels along the bottom of the door, so I figured this must have just been a package available. I have never seen another Mark 8 wtih a hood ornament. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It's really nice.

Hmmmm. Never saw one before. Doesn't quite fit a mark VIII tho imo.

I think they look better with no hood ornament.

Yeah, there was one for sale locally on Autotrader recently. It might even be the one you bought...

Guy in Japan did that years ago to a Gen 1. Does not fit into the look of the Mark VIII at all IMHO.

i saw one at the dealership i work at a few weeks ago... chrome rocker panels, fender trim, and a huge winged angel type deal for a hood ornament. in my opinion, the car shouldnt have that stuff on it. its supposed to be sleak. then again...i dont like anything that isnt needed.

Those are not factory, neither is the chrome trim panels. That was all added, and easily so. The double lincoln stars reminds me too much of the earlier Continentals.

I bet its a custom job that the first owner had done, when I bought mine it had that ugly chrome trim. I took it off the first day I time to clean the car up my way. You see alot of that stuff on the older people's cars wether it came with it or not. They tend to be old fashioned
