sorry, couldn't resist, try some WD-40 into the locking mechanism, not the key lock but the mechanical part that holds the door shut

Well that's just silly. You can't just not pay the bills. You should only quit working if you can afford to pay the bills. sheesh!

Let me know when they come to sell your stuff. I'll be there to buy your car.

I always felt put off by forums where members tell me to search... feels cold and impersonal just doesn't seem to be the LvC way.. I always hoped we were not like those other sites.

BlntdEyez Get you can of WD-40 and spray the door latch... it will solve the problem. Keep a small can in the trunk or glove box incase the message comes back again.

Thanks for the post!! Feel free to ask any question whether or not it's been asked before or not. Most LvC members will be happy to answer your questions. Also now you have a remedy to post to the next new LvC member who has this problem.

I'm sorry to see you feel that way, mespock. Put on your big boy underwear and deal with it! :p

I'm not trying to be an ass, but come on! There are so many threads on that, it isnt even funny. If the poster doesn't have the motivation to do a search before he posts a question, why should I rehash the same thing over and over?

People nowadays think (and some expect) they should be catered to, without having to lift a finger. Yes, we are here to help each other out, and answer questions for people, but IMHO those people need to take some innitiative and do some legwork before posting such questions.

I mean, it's as simple as clicking on 'search", entering some key words, and presto!

I don't mind helping out people in need. Lord knows I wasn't born with Mark VIII knowledge. I too asked. But I did a search before I asked.

you can buy my red stapler! :p

Only if I can get the red staples with it.

Well.... the problem is, you remove the search function, and one of two or two of two things may happen:

1. People who WANT to search for a topic and can't, may give up on LVC and go to one of the other mark forums because he may need that info "right now" and may not have the luxury of waiting lord knows how long (even if it's as little as an hour) for a reply.

2. Current LvC members may get sick of repeating the same answers over and over and over... and move over to another forum.

I mean, you remove the search function, you might as well remove the how to articles, and the gallery, and... hell, just take the whole forum offline. You see where I'm going with this? After all, we all love to rehash the same answers over and over, right? :/

Actually it either doesn't work well at all or I'm too stupid to figure it out. Multiple search terms are searched for using "or" not "and" no matter what I try.

Search works well enough. If I came a forum and asked a question without searching, it's probably because I didn't know the site well and didn't know about it. But if a member who has a lot of posts tells me to try the search, I wouldn't be put off by it. I would try the search, and be happy with the fact that I came up with tons of info immediately. I don't know about most people, but I'm a big boy and don't get all pissy when someone points me in the right direction, even if it is a little curt.

Oh dear lord. I've publicly stated I can be an ass, so you're not breaking any news there, Connie.

I am curious which member signed up just to impart his feelings of me upon evereryone. Take an admin a whole 15 seconds to do an IP search on his username and see what other users are registered with that IP addy.

Oh well. At least I am not afraid to tell it like I see it, and I sure as hell am not a afraid to do it under my username.

Oye. It does look like the boolean search functions are turned off.

Typically, if you type, say +"door ajar" , the database should only return you threads with the two words next to each other.

Jooooeeeeeyy!?

Gimme a call sometime Alex..... You had me searching for the wrong username. I've got your information.

Mike

BTW...... I'm gonna have to agree with just about everyone else. I'm all for helping someone, but i'm not going out of my way when a simple search could be performed in the 1st place.

I'm also of the mindset, that if you can't take a comment such as.....

"Do a search", W/O it hurting your E-feelings, you need to go back to kindergarden and regain the basic building blocks for self esteem. Tell ya what Frogman.... Let's do this...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a given repetitive question we need to follow this format.

Hello and welcome to LVC!

You may not be aware, but your piticular question has been brought up MANY times before. It is not your fault, so need to apoligize. If you would be so kind, Please go to the upper forums menu, and click the search function.

Place your keywords of choice in the box and hit enter. With any luck, a list of threads will be brought up with your subject of choice. IF by chance you find nothing, please feel free to post back and explain exactly what your needing. Someone will answer your question ASAP!

Thank you for choosing LVC for your research needs.
