I have her listed on Craigs List. 95 Mark VIII with 115k. I'm asking $5,500 and to my surprize a few people want to test drive her and one guy really wants to buy her. Should I keep or sell? It's good money but then again I really do love the car. I really didn't expect much action, but I was wrong! If I do sell her I will most likely buy a truck.
Oppinions please.
MonsterMark December 15th, 2006, 10:39 PM Selllllll.
Are you kidding me.
Sell and upgrade to a 2nd Gen my friend.:D
mespock December 15th, 2006, 10:51 PM You don't want a girly girl Gen II.. Keep the hot rod Gen I and enjoy her.

You are correct, I don't care for the gen 2's all that much. The front end just isn't for me. But I think it's pretty good money for her. I will most likely end up keeping her and kick myself in the rear later for not selling!? I'm not sure?
MediumD December 15th, 2006, 11:45 PM I will most likely end up keeping her and kick myself in the rear later for not selling!? I'm not sure?
That's what you should do. If you sold the car you'd be kicking yourself later too.
torquemonkey December 16th, 2006, 12:11 AM In a word...No.

Great choice.... $5,000 is more than a good offer, but your Mark is in great shape and you've done some good work on her.
If you sell it you'd be kicking yourself in the butt for not keeping her as you look for a replacement and not find another like her.
Drive her until she'd dead... Take $100 down to the casino and make $5,000 there and then go get another car... Keep the Mark she won't do you wrong.
Oh and it's not that Gen II's are bad but the Gen I's are a much more aggressive looking. more Manly :p Chickenviii LOL (we know why you have a Gen II you old Catcher:D you, I heard you're hooking up with the Monster soon:shifty: LOL)
Dominus December 16th, 2006, 09:35 AM Take it while you can still get it.

Rent a car.
my95mark8 December 16th, 2006, 01:04 PM where can i get one of those no smoking lighter socket covers?
I have one of those too. I tink it actually means that it's a power port, as opposed to a cigarette lighter.
turborich December 16th, 2006, 02:19 PM where can i get one of those no smoking lighter socket covers?
Wal -Mart. $1.00
Dr. Paul December 16th, 2006, 03:30 PM Dang, my car is newer and has less miles - and I'd sell if for $5500. If someone wants to give you that kind of coin, go for it.
poniesviii December 16th, 2006, 06:36 PM I wouldn't sell it if it were mine, for the enjoyment ratio .. it can't be replaced for three times that amnt of money. I had an elder guy at a carshow ask how much I had to have for mine a bit over a year ago, I said.. enough to replace it with something worth having. How much? He said, I said, well .. an M3 would cost over 20, I'd probably need 15. 15 thousand? Yes. When can I have it? Serious as serious could be Lol and I DIDN'T sell it! And I'm happy, because I wouldn't want to go through what it takes to make the same mark viii I have twice. You should consider more on how much you might miss it and then decide.
turborich December 16th, 2006, 07:15 PM Thanks for the oppinions guys! At this point I am leaning towards keeping the car and just hoping for the best. So far it has been a great car. Hopefully if I take good care of her she will return the favor. I will know in the next couple of days for sure.
poniesviii December 16th, 2006, 07:36 PM Keep in mind when something's wrong they're easy to hate, but if you get off your ass and fix it .. it's easy to love! :D
And, it's easy to have paid for, vs payments. Which opens the gap for replacement parts costs.

How true....
I've not had a car that I love to drive as much as my Marks VIIIs. Even though I feel my Mark VII was a much more classy car, it wasn't as much fun as the Mark VIII... Therefore the reason for selling the Mark VII and getting another Mark VIII.
I like too much about the car to sell mine. Granted there are more out there but will they be as nice. Mine are not in as good as shape you Yours Rich... but I think they are in very good shape.
Also for me I don't Look forward to having car payments.... my solution... buy anouther Mark VIII...
Will there be repairs - yes but if you can do them yourself - much cheaper than car payments.
In all it all comes down to homw much you like your car..... Is it worth keeping to you... if so... keep it... If you are someone who needs something because you get tired of what you have sell it, the price is good...
For me the price would have to be enough to get another Mark VIII in better shape and with money left over to turn it into a car worthy of competing with 94m5's with no extra money to boot.. but that's not going to happen...

SURPRISED! lolol, Mark's are the HOTTEST!!! Sweetest rides on the road. No matter where I go, at least 3-4 people ask about him. I've even gotten notes on the windshield "...beautiful ride!..." or when I have to take him to the shop the owner will always tell me someone saw your Mark and wanted to buy it, but the best just happened. The guy who put my gears in got pulled over - 3 violations! speed, failure to display and tint!!! lolol He got off on all of them cause he had his shop uniform on and the cop believed he was checkin' out the gears lolol.
HANDS DOWN - KEEP IT!!!!
SMOOCHES!!!!

mark0101 December 18th, 2006, 11:44 AM Keep it, There aren't many marks with good interiors anymore, most of them are beat up so bad that you wonder how they even got the car to look like that.(which one time costed 40K)
If its not costing you alot, then keep it. 5,000 is normal here, The lowest I have seen here is 3,995 and that was for a 94 with about 90K
chickenviii December 18th, 2006, 11:50 AM Chickenviii LOL we know why you have a Gen II

turborich December 18th, 2006, 03:03 PM OK, well here's the deal! I took the add off of craigs list and I decided to keep her!!! I had two solid offers of $5,500 with one who keeps calling me. I am going to hold on to her though. I plan on getting a LMS chip in the future along with a trac loc rear out of a t-bird SC. I should like her even more then.
Thanks for the input!

Good job... in my opinion. Unless you don't like the car and are in the market for something else then go for it... But I do believe you would miss this car she's in too good of shape to just sell because someone offered you a few $100s more. Tell the guy if you calls you again.. Sorry I realized what I have and she's mine...
Play with her and make her yours.

Why, you can part it out for more than that, even years from now. You smart. Go sell 'er edison.
Congrats on keeping the car!! Lol. Who cares what book value says. If it's kept up, it'll always sell for 6 or more grand.

Just goes to show you that blue book really doesn't matter, huh? A clean car and a detailed description seems to work!
