Some Ya hoo stuck something into the drivers lock in order to get into the car. Didn't do any damage to the door, but f-uped the lock. They didn't get much though. I felt something was wrong at about 3:30 am., even looked at the car in front of the house, (normaly in the garage), but thought that street light was playing tricks on my eyes. (thought the truck lid looked open just a tad)

But how was he able to get around the perimeter alarm? I thought that the alarm was enabled/disabled by the remote and the chip in the key? Any one care to explain this too me? Oh, yea their replacing the rear brakes that they should have replaced with the front last month. (who just has 1 set replaced at a time?) I found a coupon on their website that I printed that said 164.99 for brakes and rotor. It didn't say per axel. LOL, I've paid over 125.00 in Sept to trun the rotors and over 169.00 last month just for front brakes and rotors turned. The brakes still squeal! (just wen't totheir site, the coupon is gone. LOL)

THe LS is in the shop for the 3rd month in a row now. Each time it was not due to big problems though, but costly all the same.

Easy fix for that. Buy a aftermarket key pad and leave your keys locked in your car hidden under the seat.

I would suggest leaving them in the trunk instead of under the seat. If you leave them under the seat and someone breaks in, he can use the key to disable the alarm. The keypad should allow you to open the trunk to get them out (though I would suggest testing the ability to open the trunk via the keypad before locking the keys therein :D ).

That key pad is nothing more than a glorified fob. But it works like the one that comes from the factory. The difference is the factory one is hard wired and this one is not...and is just like a fob. In fact, you have to program it just like a fob. I have one on my LS and on my Cobra. I like them. I place them both on the trunk...right above the license plate on the recess so they are totally hidden from view. You punch in the code and the driver's door unlocks. You hit 3/4 and all doors unlock. You hit 5/6 and the trunk pops. When you go to lock up the car, you hit the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time and everything locks. It's just like the factory hard wired unit except this one is battery powered. Pretty slick!

Hey guys, I read the posts about the Key pad, but noone explained how the alarm was deactived by the yahoo putting something in the key hole. I thought the alarm would go off when the door or trunk was opened.

Is the key pad a secondary system that has to be deactivated before using the remote? or a subsitute to the remote, and can it be pulled off the car?

If you unlock the door with your key (not remote) then the alarm is disabled. Same thing happens if the lock cylinder is forced with something other than a key.

Thanks, I think thats pretty stu'pd, the alarm should be disabled with the key chip or the remote.

I'm going to have to get a secondary alarm to alert me if someone trys to break in again.

I thought of video cameras to get the perp on tape, but that figuredto be too expensive. A co-worker had a alarm installed on his truck. $199.00, not bad.
