Surprise Snow

I've posted many times how good the LS is in the snow, with proper tires. I run 215/60-16 Dunlop Graspic DS-2 on my 2000 LS (manual transmission). Well this weekend while doing some repairs in Vermont I got caught in a surprise snow storm with my summer tires. With 5 inches of wet sloppy snow and I could not make it up the hill (got 3.5 miles up a 5 mile long windy grade) to get to the ski lodge. Ended up waiting for the plow and then I made it back. I've done this many times in worse conditions with the snow tires (keep chains in the trunk during the winter) without a problem.

So now I know what others have been complaining about. If you plan to go in the snow get the four tires made for the snow.

Chains? YIKES!

So glad I live in the south where everyone freaks out over an inch of snow. Also it means you can get away with one set of all-season tires for summer and winter driving.
