Lincoln's Mistake.

Well, as we know the 2007 Lincoln Navigator was suppost to change, instead they kept it the same. Even with all of the dirty comments on the truck, Lincoln hasn't changed a thing. 2003-2006 Was the best design for the SUV. I was browsing the internet and came upon a car & driver post. It was all about the 2007 SUVs only 5 of them though. The Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes Benz GL, Audi Quattro, and Infinity QX56. They each came in thier own place 1-5. The first one was the mercedes benz GL, second the Audi Quattro, third the Infinity QX56, fourth the Cadillac Escalade, and fifth the Lincoln Navigator! Which to me didn't seem fair to their rankings, they were judgemental most of the time also. I guess it was basically because lincoln has not changed a thing speedwise for the navigator. It still has 300 HP, when the escalade now, is equipped with 403 HP. I guess I basically am comparing the two, because they both are high class quality SUVs. When people are deciding between the both, they have a hard time deciding. Is it about the speed (escalade), or the comfort (navigator). I in my own opinion am about the comfort, it matters how the driver, and passengers feel, also the Navigator can haul a lot, and it holds lots of stuff in the trunk. Unlike the escalade. The closest competitor to a Navigator, comfort wise, and hauling capacity is the Infinity QX56. Anyway my point is, Lincoln should change their vehicles Speedwise. Comfort is awesome for their vehicles, everyone agrees, but if Lincoln added more HP to their Lincoln Navigator, it would clearly have all of the others struggling for second place while it rests in first. Just a thought, and they should experiment with the exterior just a bit. Anyways, your opinions?

actually, the grille on the new Navi is starting to grow on me. One advantage the Navi has over the Escalade- power folding seats. You do not want to try and move the Escalade's 55 pound chairs too often or risk a hernia.

And I've taken quite a disliking to the C&D reviews- they're so subjective, and they always go for the import car. However, Lincoln could've changed much more, and I'm not quite sure I like the whole 'retro' look of the interior.

Rumors- the future Navis may get a new 6.2L V-8.

Just like the Mustang. Well, in the next few years. When the Challenger and Camaro hit, the Mustang will be taking a back seat. Both competitors are slated to carry well over 400 hp. Ford Motor Company needs to do what the other 2 of the Big 3 have done and increase CID. There's no replacement for cubic inch displacement.

Hopefully Ford sees that the Navi is getting killed in the marketplace and will modify the Mustang in order to stay one step ahead of the competition. IMHO, I think that 6.2L belongs in both the GT Mustang and the Navigator.

I'm sure you will all remember the Hurricane 6.2 that Ford was developing in 2004 for this new wave of suvs. When it came time to seriously make it for production they scrapped it because gas had almost doubled in price that year. I agree that Ford needs to produce this engine, but don't forget Ford was the first to come up with the idea for this super V-8. GM just took the idea and made it to the market place a year sooner (2007). The new V-8 is rumored to be a 2008 thing. We'll see...
