I don't plan to upgrade the size of my wheel, but I do want a meatier tire. What are some good sizes? And what do some of you have?

Suggestions on 16" Tire SizesGMAN October 11th, 2006, 10:06 PM I don't plan to upgrade the size of my wheel, but I do want a meatier tire. What are some good sizes? And what do some of you have? rgurleyjr October 11th, 2006, 10:25 PM I have 245/50's but they slow down the speedo a few mph at 60+. The biggest tire that will fit with no problems and is closest to stock rev's is 245/55. rmac694203 October 11th, 2006, 11:55 PM mespock got a set of 255/50/16s I believe. I run the 245/50/16 and he's right the speedo is off about 2-3 mph. No biggie though. You have to run the car lowered though because the smaller tires don't really look right at stock height. Terrance October 12th, 2006, 05:10 PM Toyo Proxes T1R are one of the few that come in 245/55/R16, and this size is almost exactly the same diameter as stock. Anyone have any experience with them. shiryu0 October 12th, 2006, 09:28 PM i have the Proxes T1S's (which were replaced by the T1R) in 245/55/16, awesome tires and they look awesome when you put them on  , i got about 15,000 miles on them already :D , looking for a new set probably by end of this year. GMAN October 12th, 2006, 10:06 PM So which is better? 245/50/16 or 245/5516? rmac694203 October 12th, 2006, 10:13 PM I'd go with the 55. It won't set your speedo off as much and will fill the wheel well better. 1993_M75 October 14th, 2006, 12:59 AM So which is better? 245/50/16 or 245/5516? http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html 245/50 leaves your speedometer reading 3.7% too fast. 245/55 leaves your speedomter reading 0.1% too fast. mespock October 14th, 2006, 01:43 PM http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=24810 255/50/16 ... Read through that thread. This is my plan for Spring some 255/50/16s:) GMAN October 14th, 2006, 10:04 PM I don't know Rich, I am thinking of keeping it at the stock size. | |||||
