i've actually done this race, and yeah, the mark wasn't trying.

Looks real to me. From a 40 roll base mark VIII will take off in 2nd gear. You need to go lower in mph, like 37-38 and have it kick down into 1st.

Mine goes to 1st at 40. I think it will still go into 2nd at 75, can't say positively. I'm sure that in the video it was kicked down to 3rd and thats why its seems weak to me.

My car is in second gear until 98-100 mph....

I've done this race as well. It went a little different than the race in the video.

In my professional opinion, the options are:

The RSX-S had more aftermarket modification than the Mark (by a lot.)
The Mark didn't catch second.
The mark wasn't even trying.
Some weird fluke, like the Mark wasn't running right.

And the Mark is stronger on the fly than from a stop...I hate to keep talking about this.

i got a buddie that has an rsx-s w/ coldair full exhaust and he couldn't beat my mark by anymeans, and this was before i got crazy with the mark. he finaly got a hondata tune and he beat me a fender and all i had at the time was a chip mass air and half ass exhaust.

yes keep in mind it is a glorified honda

13 vs. 14 second means crap when you go from a roll, that is where trap speed comes into play. I would cut a crap light and run the same mph but a higher e.t. There are too many factors that go into e.t. trap speed tells alot more about a cars power.

That crap rsx- TYPE S (oooh, ahhh) traps 70-73 in the 1/8 and 88-93 in the 1/4. So it would pick up about 20 mph in that type of roll from 75 mph.

A STOCK Mark will trap 75 in the 1/8th, and 95 in the 1/4, also picking up 20 between the 1/8 and 1/4.

Therefore I call total bunk. :bsflag:


The guy in the Mark wasn't even racing. I'm sure he didn't want to waste the gas.

Either that or the honda crapola was heavily modified running 13's in the 1/4.

Stock for stock, no way that happened in real life.

What you got here is a punk in a Honda running around with a video camera. He comes up on a Mark, slows down, honks 3 times and then takes off. Hell, the Mark guy probably didn't even know he was there and probably couldn't even hear the 4 banger pos because he was too busy cruising and chilling to the JBL.

Of course MPH shows which car will pull from a roll, and a 13 sec car will have a higher MPH 9/10 than a mid 14 second car. I'm assuming this is the video of the dude who came on here to the forum with his high 13 second rsx type s against his friends chipped and exhaust Mark VIII.
