FiveFlat October 22nd, 2004, 10:32 PM Okay - I got a 2004 LS. Not alot available for it. but to be honest - I like just as it is - except.
I just had the windows tinted - back window and rear doors 95% and front doors 50%
I definately want the McLaren grille. I'll be ordering one here real soon.
and wheels - it came stock with 17's aluminum spoke. They look great - they look even better polished.
Should I just have them polished - or should I go with a bigger wheel and something different? Just want some opinions from everyone. Thanks!
LS4me October 22nd, 2004, 11:17 PM IMHO, chrome the ones you have (should be able to have done for ~$500), get a set of the 00-02 5-spoke chrome, or get a set of the OZ wheels, chrome of course. Chrome would look quite sharp on your car color! I wouldn't go bigger than an 18" wheel. You chance wearing out suspension components with the bigger, heavier wheels. You will also lose steering response. The LS has a 60mm offset, but you should be able to go as low as 45mm and not rub.
Just my $.02 worth.
Oh yea, NICE looking LS! Welcome to a driving experience that only gets better!! I have ~93K on my 2000, and still look forwrd to getting behind the wheel!!
GrayGhost1 October 23rd, 2004, 09:57 AM Wheels make or break a car. The LS is no exception. I would definitely think chrome is a good choice for the darker color LS's. I have the OZ Racing Classe wheels on my car. They are 18" x 8" and are lighter than the stock wheels. Also, OZ doesn't carry a chrome Classe wheel. I sent mine off to WheelConcepts.com and had them chrome plated. It was about $160/wheel with shipping to and from. They do AWESOME work. Here's the finished product:

The good thing about the Classe wheel is that it has a removable lip. If you were to get some curb rash you can call up OZ Racing and they'll send you another one for around $80. Another wheel that is nice is the http://www.antera.com/ (Antera series.)

FiveFlat October 23rd, 2004, 10:51 AM Why are you all suggesting chrome plating? Whats wrong with polished aluminum? It gets just as shiney doesn't it?
FiveFlat October 23rd, 2004, 10:56 AM My other question is this. When I go with the McLaren grille. should stay with the black lincoln logo or go with a colored one? I have a Horse ranch and my ranch colors are Dark blue and bright orange - I thought the orange logo would look cool because of my colors - but away from my place it might look really bad. What are your thoughts?
GrayGhost1 October 23rd, 2004, 01:44 PM Here's a couple of pics of a black LS with the McLaren Grille and the orange emblem. Looks pretty good to me.

jcavz24x October 24th, 2004, 11:01 AM I think OEM Chrome mercedes rims would look good. Would they fit?

Sifrino3 October 24th, 2004, 11:14 AM I think 18s looks best on the LS. . .
FiveFlat October 24th, 2004, 12:01 PM But what about my first question. Polished aluminum or chrome?
Sifrino3 October 24th, 2004, 01:48 PM I got polished and I don't really see the difference between my Grandmothers chrome rims. . .
LS4me October 24th, 2004, 05:14 PM Chrome are a bit easier to maintain than the polished aluminum. I use Wheel Wax and my wheels need nothing more than a daily dusting between washes.
Sifrino3 October 24th, 2004, 05:27 PM Chrome - Easier To Clean
Polished - Cheaper
GrayGhost1 October 24th, 2004, 06:38 PM Chrome - Easier To Clean

I agree with that. Pick your poison....so to speak.
Sifrino3 October 24th, 2004, 06:50 PM I agree with that. Pick your poison....so to speak.
:I
Also, Polished weighs less or so they say. That another reason why I went with polished. 20 lbs each I think, for my 17x9". My high peformance tires weigh alot. I can't remember if they weighed more then that. . .

HyeLifeLS July 9th, 2007, 11:25 PM You mean LBC Long Beach?
Where do you order the McLaren grille and about how much is it?
Broke_ls July 10th, 2007, 10:13 PM i would say its all in what you are going for and how much you want to spend. i probably have more into my car in custom than anyone and dont forget once you go past wheels, exhaust, and the other basics you wont be able to stop. as for wheels dont go any smaller that 19s. go with chrome if you are leaving the car the same color. oh yeah and the best investment....silverstar turnsignals!!!
Broke_ls July 10th, 2007, 10:15 PM oh and btw a dead thread needs revived every once in a while...
rickztahone July 11th, 2007, 01:23 AM i think quik or ken have spent more money on their car as far as custom. the guy has a supercharger in his car!. ken had the big brake kit on his car. it's not about how much u spend and telling others not to get anything less than 19's. some people actually race with this car. i have 20's and i don't really consider racing my car especially here in los angeles. everyone has their own preferences and suggestions are fine but just keep in mind that not everyone wants their car to look like yours. just my .02
Broke_ls July 11th, 2007, 11:14 AM ok i wont say how much i have spent but the wheels and tires alone cost more than most superchargers. add in custom suicides, custom, paint, shaved everything, real carbon from front to back. if you are going custom most likely you do not plan on racing. that is a whole different story. that is why i said you want atleast 19s, but again its all a matter of opinion.
worri_bear July 11th, 2007, 04:24 PM geez...sorry for asking, and im no dude ima girl
Garbone July 11th, 2007, 05:29 PM Lowering the car is IMHO the best mod on the LS. I think it actually corrects a tall ride ht., however, you gotta pay attention, or you can really scrape the undercarriage of your car
I also did a different grill, but used the LSE one. I did the rear license trim, as well.
GrayGhost1 July 11th, 2007, 05:37 PM geez...sorry for asking, and im no dude ima girl
We offer numerous grilles including the McLaren. If you sign up for a Gold Member on LvC you can get 10% off anything in our store. Just food for thought.

RollinLS July 12th, 2007, 10:54 AM Its not about how much you spend on your ride. BUT the final result and overall look. I have spent less then $5000 in my LS. I did most of the work myself. I also waited for parts to come available for a price I was willing to pay.
IMHO 19's are the way to go.You still get the ride of the 18's with the look of the 20's. I constantly get people asking me "20's?" or "18's?" at shows. VERY few people get it right at first look.
Picture of my McLaren grille with red emblem.
beechcraft11 July 13th, 2007, 09:59 PM You wasted money on 95% tints? Isnt stock like 90% anyway?
HyeLifeLS July 13th, 2007, 10:57 PM I think he means the other way aroung, 95% for 5% (limo) tint.
