TownCar September 18th, 2006, 12:32 PM Does any 1 know where the orifice tube goes in a 94 lincoln conti? What's an Orifice tube  Sounds pornographic  MichiganTeddyBear September 18th, 2006, 12:55 PM I am in the middle of moving... as soon as thats all done, I will consult my manuals and help ya out if someone else hasn't chimed in yet... Jimbo September 18th, 2006, 07:40 PM What's an Orifice tube  Sounds pornographic  i didn't want to be the first one to say that :D TownCar September 19th, 2006, 01:25 AM Is this the one you're talking about ?? Fuel Vapor Valve The fuel vapor valve uses a small orifice and shutoff valve to allow only fuel vapor, not liquid, to pass into the vapor line routed forward to the fuel vapor canister. This fuel vapor valve mounts directly to the fuel tank, using a rubber grommet. http://www.MyOnlineImages.com/Members/dchartney/images/1994FuelTankVaporValve.jpg Fuel vapors in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the orifice in the top of the tank. The vapors are transmitted through a single vapor tube to the fuel vapor canister at the front of the vehicle. A spring loaded poppet valve provides pressure relief ahead of the orifice to fuel vapor canister. The poppet valve gradually opens above 5-6 kPa (20-24 inches H2O) to vent vapors to atmosphere through a second vapor tube. Frat-man-du September 19th, 2006, 07:40 AM There is also an Orifice tube in the A/C system. Not sure where it is on the Conti though. dixjon September 19th, 2006, 06:39 PM Yes, sorry about that i am talking about the Orifice tube for the A/C system. TownCar September 19th, 2006, 06:59 PM Is this the one.... A/C Evaporator Core Orifice Information regarding the use of an A/C evaporator core orifice replacement kit (E5VY-19D695-A) below. (The A/C evaporator core orifice has an orifice diameter of 0.0575 inch and is color coded orange.) A/C Evaporator Core Orifice The fixed orifice tube provides the required restriction creating the dividing point between the high and low-pressure liquid refrigerant. It meters the flow of liquid refrigerant into the A/C evaporator core. A/C evaporator core temperature is controlled by a A/C cyclic switch (19E561) that senses the pressure within the evaporator core and A/C dehydrator and receiver tank. This A/C cyclic switch controls A/C compressor operation as necessary to maintain the A/C evaporator core pressure within specified limits. The A/C evaporator core orifice is located in the liquid line near the A/C condenser core and has a filter screen located on the inlet of the tube body. The filter screen acts as a strainer for the liquid refrigerant following through the orifice opening. O-ring seals on the tube body prevent the high-pressure liquid refrigerant from bypassing the orifice. Adjustment or repairs cannot be made to the A/C evaporator core orifice assembly which cannot be removed from the liquid line. The liquid line must be replaced, or an Orifice Tube Replacement Kit (E5VY-19D695-A) installed if replacement of the A/C evaporator core orifice is necessary. The A/C evaporator core orifice should be replaced whenever an A/C compressor is replaced. If the high pressure reading is higher than normal and the suction pressure drops rapidly creating a faster than normal A/C clutch cycle rate, the A/C evaporator core orifice may be restricted and should be replaced. This condition is usually indicated by the compressor having a short ON time and a long OFF time. http://www.MyOnlineImages.com/Members/dchartney/images/1994AC_Orifice.jpg dixjon September 21st, 2006, 05:16 AM Yes, thats it thank you very much. | ||||
