That is what I did and used the 97 T-Bird shocks Monroes Sensa-trac #5965 around $50.00 for the pair and they work great.:)

I just ordered my coil conversion from American Air Suspension (Thanks Eddie)... I'll will also change my rear shocks while I'm at it. I'm going to do the free method on the shock mounts.. T-Bird shocks all the way... Save the extra cash.

Take them out, remove the rubber from the mount, usually by burning it out, use the rubber bushings included with your new shocks.... it will work good as new. Many of us here have done this.
If you do a search for shock mounts you will find an old post about this with pictures.

RicksquickVlll, When you take out your rear shocks, take the mounts off and either cut most of the rubber off and then torch the rest of the rubber off and just reuse the metal part, pretty simple and they work just as good as the ones you pay like $40.00 for.
