hey guys i have a 04 ls8 sport and i noticed this when i rarely parked my car without the music on - when i finished parking and put the car back from D5 to park i hear a big CLINK sound coming from what i think is the transmission, i also felt the feedback through the shifter and my wife that was outside of the car also heard it - now this has happened more than once i thought i wasnt hitting the brake and fully stoping the car so the trans was just falling smoothly in but this morning i did a complete stop and put it in park and same thing happened - i must admit i have done some powerbraking like maybe 5 times already and the last time i did it the wheels didnt spin and the "check advanced track" came on  now should i be worried or should i take the car in to the stealership to check this out.
any thoughst guys...

All of them do it. I usually put in the N first from R, before I put it in Park. It doesn't make that sound that way.

HyeLife is right. I noticed that in my old '02 I had to put it in N first and then park. Even in my new '06 it does it. I was worried about it too but I guess N to P will have to do.

My guess would be that it's the Parking pawl engaging. I always shift to N and set the parking brake first, so the car is resting on the brakes instead of the pawl, so maybe that's why I don't hear it.
Or maybe it's that three chord country and American rock and roll... ;)
