Ny auto dimming rearview mirror on LS Sport '00 is slowly starting to fail and I an thinking about replacing it. One idea is to replace it with newer mirror with compass. How mutch could OEM mirror with compass cost and how hard is to install it - are there needed any modifications in wireing etc.?

Here's where you want to look:

I have bought a few mirrors from them in the past. They aren't difficult to install...they just take time. The hardest part is removing the old mirror without breaking something. However, if you have auto wipers, you may want to make sure you can use the one with a compass. It may not fit with the auto wiper module.

AS far as I understand they sell Gentex mirrors. How it goes with Gentex wireing for example for just autodimming mirror (without compass and other features) - does it fit plug-and-play with the OEM wireing, or I will have to make new wireing for it?

Already looked at this one, but seller does not offer shipping internationally :( So the main problem is that I am from United States.

The factory has used Gentex in the past. I'm not sure what they have in the LS. But if it's not a Gentex, it shouldn't be an issue. The mirror will have the mount for your car...and that's all you need. It will come with it's own wiring harness if the one you get requires it (the compass will) and you simply follow the instructions for running the wire. It really is simple...but takes time. As I said....the hardest part is removing the old mirror. It's a funky set up where you have to reach in with a special tool (I made one out of a pocket screwdriver), pry down on a spring clip, and tap the mirror mount with a soft hammer to slide it off. If you've never done one, and are unsure how it works, I would recommend running by any glass shop and have them pop it off for you. It's easy to get the new one on.
