trim plate for a double din.

The place that I got my tv intalled at, put a cheap face plate that looked like crap. Anyways we have a plaque cutting machine at my work and black faced plastic. The plastic is .062" thick and I measures my opening. The machine cuts a little angle but not enough to blend in from the air duct to the temperature controller. I used a razor blade and shaved a little more to blend it in. Looks 100 times better then before. I had to use a sharpie marker to colour in the white around the edges. If anybody wants one made let me know.

You can use the double DIN that Lincoln used for the 03 and up Navigation system. You'll have to cut out the middle part and paint it but it's your best option:

WOW $60 for a pieces of plastic thats not even worth a dollar. Sounds like a great buy. I can buy the entire radio out of a 2000-2003 for 60 bucks and I would not have to worry about painting it. No matter which route you choose your still hacking away at it.

I actually bought two old factory radios for $5 each. I pulled the face plates and tossed the radios. When we get ready to put the Nav system in, I have an extra just in case I screw one up! LOL

So here's the deal - I butchered my old 6-disk player to use the face plate off of it - I wanted everything to match nicely. I got one of the aftermarket single-din kits, but the hole that was already in it was too wide and would have left a huge gap. So I resorted to cutting my old one up - but there's another issue: The stock radio buttons are ever-so slightly wider than the Eclipse AVN 5435, so I'm left with a bit of an ugly gap. In addition to that my cuts dont look as good as they could and I want to do it again. I thought of getting some kind of arborite or plastic trim plate like is discussed here, but I dont know how to go about finding one in Canada. Any ideas? I want it cut perfectly to the dimensions of the AVN (with enough clearance left for it to open properly). LS MONK, how much would you charge for some plastic sheets the correct size without holes (so that I could cut the right sized one) Or how much would it cost me to get one with the hole cut if I got you exact measurements?

Apart from that I was thinking of ordering one of the 03+ ones, but I'm worried that it might be tough to paint it to match the 01 black. Any ideas on that one either? Ken, how does the size of the hole in the 03+ Nav unit compare to the size/ratio/corner curve radius on the Eclipse units?

I don't know. I know that several people have bought the navi face plate to install the double din units. I'm sure they'll chime in but from my understanding it fits very good.

I tried to have my navi bezel in it today and they couldn't get it to work w/o hacking it all to hell. So, instead on Monday i'll be getting a custom one made and the installation done. I'll have pics up when it's done.

Here is my Eclipse 6600 with the factory navi bezel. I had the 5435 but didn't like how you couldn't watch DVDs and navigate at the same time so I upgraded to the 6600 and love it. It looks really good in person, the pictures don't do justice. I was able to get it to fit like it came stock with the car.

Hey NVmyLS,

How much empty space is there between the side of the actual unit and the side of the trim piece? I'm looking for as little empty space as possible. From the pictures it looks good top and bottom, but the sides may have more space than i would like, but I may just be looking at the pictures wrong. Yours looks really good, I'm just really picky.

Like I said, pictures don't do justice. The spacing to me is just perfect and I'm very picky also so I would recomend using the factory nav bezel. I made many templates out of abs plastic and the factory nav bezel fit the best

When you have a moment, or next time you think of it, can you measure the width of the hole of the bezel for me?

When putting this trim piece into an '01 will I have any compatibility issues? The OEM piece has two round holes on the bottom of the trim piece that slide into the little pins on the temp. control module. Do the +03 trim bezels have the same pieces? How did you hold the trim piece onto the unit so they would all stay in place without moving?

Anybody else know of anywhere to get these for less than $60? Can any Ford/Lincoln dealer order this part in? Is LSCXB7756 the correct part number?

Ken, I sent you a PM about this, I'll take it if someone can give me the measurements of the hole that the screen fits into and if you give me a shipping price to Canada
