I am having a dificult time locating the proper Cabin A/C Filter for my 2002 LS sport V8. I purchased a replacement from AutoPartsWarehouse.com and the filter they sent was completely different then the Ford filter that is installed. I call AutoPartsWarehouse.com and the filter that they shipped is the one listed in their database as the proper one for my car. However, it is intirely different... different size, different shape, different thichness etc... The filter that they sent is a Bosch C 3789. Does anyone know where I can purchase the correct filter?

Thanks

I don't know about that particular part number, but I bought mine from O'reilly Auto Parts. They should have it in stock or can quick ship it. It was under $20.

I don't have an O'reilly Auto Parts near me in Baltimore, MD and none of the local chains carry the cabin filter. The dealer wants $80 for the filter.

Anyone have a part number of suggestions for purchasing one on-line. Again, this is for my 2002 LS V8.

I got mine from Teamford.com, I think they are even a sponsor here. Bill Jenkins is a real good guy. I checked my order and it didn't show the part number but the cost was $20.46 plus shipping. I have a 2001 so I think its the same filter.

You should be able to go to oriely's.com or something like that and order one and have them ship it to you.

Does anyone know if the v6 has a cabin filter or is it only on the v8? I have asked this question once before but never got any response.

Yes the V6 has a cabin filter. I had it replaced with a seasonal service package. My dealer only charged me $28.46 for mine. Invoice lists the part as: XW4Z 19N619. I had a 2002. Here is one on ebay for $19.00.

I purchased a Purolator Cabin filter for my LSV8. Either from AdvanceAuto or AutoZone in Maryland. (I live in Maryland). If I recall, it wasnt in stock, but I special ordered it. $19 or so, and it arrived the next day in store. Perfect fit.

You could also just blow it out with compressed air. I have done this with mine a couple times and it works fine.

The old method to check paper filters was to hold it up to the sunlight. If you could see light thru most of the filter it was clean enough to reuse.

The factory filter just appears to filter out dust and dirt which is easy to blow out. Some of the aftermarkets have a carbon filter for smells so I would assume these lose effectivness after time.

Good Luck,

Hey guys, I have a message on my dash that says "change ac filter soon"... is this refering to the cabin filter? If so, where is it and how do I change it? Will the message clear itself?
Thanks for any help

Yes, its the same thing. The filter is under the rain tray on the passenger side. Has a little clip on the side you have to pop off then it comes right out. There might be a how to somewhere on the site if you try a search. The message won't clear you have to reset it back to 100%.

and to follow that up. you reset it by hitting the status button. when "ac filter" appears, hit reset. it will then say hold reset to change. do as insttructed, and the ac filter will go back up to 100%

The filter is located under the hood against the firewall on the passenger side. It is under the black plastic cowling running along the bottom of the windshield. There are several plastic buttons that hold the cowling down. Mine has a center button in each big button that needs to be pushed down and then the big button lifts up. Looks like a bullseye about the size of a quarter. You will need to lift all the buttons on the passenger side and some on the driver side.

Under the cowl, is a flap that has a couple latches that need to be pulled a little to let the flap flip up. The filter is down under the flap and comes right out.

If it isn't too dirty, I would just blow it out with compressed air.

You will need to reset the "change AC filter" message. On my car you get into status mode, and when it says change filter, push reset and then push and hold reset again for a second.

There are also some filters under the seats that need to be replaced once in awhile.

For what it's worth, the Bosch C3789 was the correct filter for my '04. Maybe the '00 - '02 cars use a different one?
