Does anyone know if a Taurus trunk latch can directly replace the power pull down junk in the 88-94 cars?

hmm not sure if it will directly replace it. but if its broken (usually the motor or the switch on the pulldown assy), there is an option, thats free. if your motor is intact and in place... you can remove the motor temporarily, crank down the gear that the latch bar(hoop) is on untill its at about the right height, put motor back on. Leave the electrical connection to the pulldown assy off, and you can still work trunk like a normal trunk. it may take a couple tries to get the latch bar in the correct place, but once there, the motor will prevent it from moving (worm gear drive).

if no motor is avail (as in my case), then you need to find a screw or something to put into the casing to jam the gear, as vibration will allow it to turn slowly (over the course of a few days/weeks) back out.
