i have a question, has anyone tried them turbo II mufflers from autozone? im wondering how they sound on the mark. or if anyone know some good mufflers to put on, i have alittle over 200 to spend. i was just going to cut stock off and put new on. thanks everyone.:p

I haven't heard them on a Mark, but they're fairly quiet mufflers. Seems like the stock pipes even without mufflers are really quiet, so if you added those it would probably sound almost the same as stock.

Honestly it seems like if you want a good sound you're going to need at least a full catback system. With stock pipes I would just remove the resonator and mufflers (yes it will drone on the freeway, at least with stock gears.)

If you have a little more then $200 then you can get these (http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com/xx2.wmv) for $238.00 plus s&h. Lifetime warranty, seamless construction and mirror chrome polished.

Those mufflers are kinda big and bulky looking, Dont you think so? They have that import look to them.

An import look? LMAO. Twin tips are an American look any import influence would be English or Italian (Jag & Ferarri). Bulky? They are trim and lean and tuck real nice. Since that commercial we have had the bodies of the mufflers trimmed down slightly from top to bottom and the razor blade tips now have a rearward vent for insulation.

Can if you look under the car.

Mine are truely disguised, no one will find them.

Maybe it's not that they are so big and bulky, but the polished stainless steel. Maybe if the mufflers were black I would like them more. Just too much bling to them.

well thank you all for your input. if i was to take stock mufflers off and put them XX2's on there would that sound alright and how much HP gain? 3-4 maybe? i know its kinda of topic but anything from you all would help, what small things can i do to give it more hp, not asking a $h!t load but afew here and there. might be a stupid question but what about the air silencer taken off? seen afew things on here about them. again thank you!your all very kind and always around to help eachothere. your all like family "even when we argue" lol;)

i think most of the small cheep/free mods are only good for tenths of hp's, but mostly increases the efficancy of the motor resulting in slightly better gas mileage.

LuxFord

well that will work, save money on gas. gives me more money on mods :D could you name afew things to do?

Your better off doing the entire cat back set up for any real gains, small but real.

Mufflers alone will be a little bit of sound and "maybe" a SMALL gain in mpg.

that catback not only looks sexy but sounds bad ass too. How much is it for one shipped to CA?

you could have a shop cut off the mufflers, weld some stainless slant tips..$130..sounds good, not super loud, just right for me..

Dang, $130 just to hack off your mufflers and put on tips? Seems a bit steep?

husky017
August 2nd, 2006, 11:50 PM
the tips are stainless steel, yes it is more expensive than chrome..and they also had to weld extentions on the pipes so the tips would come out far enough..better than just cutting the mufflers and leaving it..i'd pay $130 to do it again..

w/o the muffler i got mine done for 220. But thats only cuz i got da hookupz. An average ehxaust shop would charge around 300 or more.

LuxFord

ok cool, although $300 is $300 you only have to pay for it once am i right? doesnt seem to bad and how long did it take them to make it? thanks for the input everyone.

You can take and have your 3rd cat removed get a Magnaflow 2 in 2 out mufler with a built in X pipe then have pipes run out to the rear with no mufflers added.

Set up should cost you between $300 to $400... you have great sound and some gains.

Pioneer Craze I think did this... Very nice set up for a lower budget...
