Taillight leaking

So every bad rain or if i run it through a cheap car wash my passanger bulb blows. Its the brake light. So i keep a box of lights in my trunk just incase. Im wondering why it does this. I take this whole thing out and its FULL of water. I caulked the edges so its not coming in there. My only other thought is that its coming through where the harness plugs in. Or a hair line crack, but like I said theres alot of water. Its causing the bulbs to actually shatter. Please help me figure this out. Im tinting my tails tomorrow so i dont want to hastle with this anymore. Thanks

I've owned a 2000 LS V6, and currently own a 2002 LSE.

Both have had the exact same issue, exact same tailamp. Both of mine had an approx 2 inch crack in the same location. Remove the tailamp, and examine the inside/black area. About halfway down/middle of the tailamp...look very carefully. Good chance you will see a visible crack, most likely in a crevice. Get all of the water out of the unit, dry off the cracked area..wipe the cracked area well with a dry cloth, then apply a strip of silicone sealant. Let it cure, and you should no longer have the problem.

The above applied to BOTH of my LS's. Drivers side lens never had an issue. Only the passenger side.

There are other posts on this. I honestly think that every LS owner will eventually have this problem. The light bulb is too close to the lens. I've resealled like 3 x now and now one of the doggone fastners has stripped from changing so much. Does anybody now if one particular year doesn't have this problem? If so, I'd much rather buy some of those taillights. It's the most irritating defect.

Actually your problem is that 1/2 of the brake light fluid has leaked out and the bulbs are liquid cooled! :facesjump

Hah, I've never heard that one before. Can you explain? Is there a fix or work around?
