96 Continental Cooling Fan Assembly

One of the fans in my 2-fan radiator cooling assembly is on it's way out (the one on the drivers side). I can get the motor for about $120 or I can get the full assembly for either $200 or $400, which leads me to my question. The only difference between the two (so I am told) is that the $400 assembly is designed to be able to mount a (multi-something-or-other) on it. This multi-whatever device is located at the top of the fan assembly between the two fans. I have the multi-device on my 96 Conti, so I'm going to need to mount it. The guy that I spoke to said they are identical with the exception of this mount, and that if I bought the cheaper one, I would just have to figure out a way to mount it myself. I'm sure some of you know the device (multi-whatever) I'm talking about. Do you think it would be hard to mount if I got the cheaper one? I can deal with $200, but $400 is a bit much.

Update: The actual name for the part that needs mounting is a "Multi-function Relay Device".
