My car just started overheating a few days ago. It only does it in stop and go traffic and sitting still it takes a little bit for it to get hot but as long as im on the highway then its all good. It gets hotter a lot quicker when the AC is on and i already replaced the resevoir to get rid of a leak. The fans dont seem to be going fast enough to cool the engine. THey stay in a slower speed and u cant even hear them moving. I know they are oil pumped fans or something like that nad work at my dads auto repair shop and he said he thinks its the fan causing the problems and not a air bubble in the antifreeze or head gasket. I dont know what to do any advice will help and i dont want to take it to the dealer cuz i dont have that much money right now

Does it overheat going down the highway at 70 mph? The fans are pretty useless at that speed...so it should be cooling for you if it's a fan problem.

The 00 LS does have hydraulic fans. They can be expensive as hell to repair. You would probably be better off taking it to a shop that is familiar with the system so you can get an accurate diagnosis. If it needs a pump or hydraulic motor, I would be very, very tempted to switch it over to an electric fan. It's been done here before. If you search, you may find the thread.

i just fixed mine yesterday of the same problem
get the ground out of the sensor in the hydrolic pump straight from the
chasis...that will solve the probelm....or maybe the sensor is messed up
its 74.95dollars and you can only find it in the agency

i just had this EXACT problem with an explorer at work yesterday (i know the ls has oil driven fans etc, ive worked for a ford dealer for the last 7 years and dont see to many ls's but still FoMoCo) so i cant exactlly picture the underhood of an ls but basically your radiator and/or condencer is plugged use a psi washer and blow it through the fins are plugged with crap and at highway speeds its litterally ramming air through but in town it sufficates for fresh air and the a/c would definatally make it worse youd be amazed how much crap comes out of there!!
