94m5 July 5th, 2006, 11:10 PM Well, I was finally able to pull Mespock's 94 into the shop today, and get the dent pulled on his drivers door. Tomorrow is a busy day finishing the door for paint, and getting the new hood, and fender ready for paint also. While I am at it, the rear 1/4 panel will be blended, and completely re-cleared to make sure there is not chance for a mismatch.
BTW Rich, It is paint code DK, so if you want to go ahead with your original plan, have at it. :D
More pics tomorrow.
Mike
ONEBADMK8 July 5th, 2006, 11:17 PM Nice work!! ALL METAL!!
94m5 July 5th, 2006, 11:23 PM It won't be all metal tho..... The door skin was stretched WAY too much to do metal finishing work. It'll have a couple coats of Evercoat "RAGE GOLD* filler before primer. But all in all, there will be VERY little filler in the panel.
Mike
JC1994 July 5th, 2006, 11:40 PM Rich, I'll bet your car is gonna look sharp when Mike gets done with it!!

YouthKwest July 6th, 2006, 10:02 AM Ivory pearl question, if I have a deep chip in the paint, would I have to re-paint all the car just to fix the chip?
mespock July 6th, 2006, 11:32 AM I don't think so but that's coming from just someone excited to get his 94 Mark VIII again.

rmac694203 July 7th, 2006, 12:45 AM Ivory pearl question, if I have a deep chip in the paint, would I have to re-paint all the car just to fix the chip?
No. I'm no expert, yet, but it can be fixed. Pearls can be blended, it's just harder. It's pretty much a spot fix, then you just blend the paint out.
mespock July 7th, 2006, 07:15 AM Has someone replaced the front fender already... Looks like a different color?
Yes Scott replaced it with one he found. It's getting repainted......

Rich, I'm gonna give you a call here in a bit.
Mike
Daughter had taken my cell phone last night so I couldn't find it when you called.
Plus, with my screen being boggered I could see who called until I read this post.
I left you a message on your cell. Call me back if you get a chance.
94m5 July 7th, 2006, 12:46 PM Update....
Door is done, and ready for paint, and the fender has become a bit more work then I had hoped. The rock gaurd was seperating from the metal, and had allowed some rust to form. SO..... I had to grind it all off, and re prime the lower section of it. the car will be in the booth sunday night, and painted monday morning.
Mike

94m5 July 29th, 2006, 06:39 PM rich just left my house on his way home. Pics from our day today.
I pulled my 98 in to swap the rear end out, and install the MMX driveshaft while we were at it. Dad decided to re do the rear shock mounts, which was a good call cause they were about shot.
Anyway, my body working days are about over professionally, as I am leaving for Colorado to enroll in college for architecture. Hope you like it Rich.

GMAN August 8th, 2006, 09:25 PM Mike, I think you're missing your calling.
94m5 August 8th, 2006, 09:40 PM I don't think I am. :)
This profession will never pay enough to support my plans in life. I've always wanted to get into Architecture, (took advanced college courses in high school) and now is the time to do it.
One other reason is..... body work/mechanics is my HOBBY. I enjoy doing it right now, but if I keep at it in a few years it won't be anymore. It's just better this way.

mespock August 12th, 2006, 07:41 AM So you going to take JD with you?
94m5 August 12th, 2006, 08:33 AM nope, dad is staying in Illinois, but once everything is settled out here, he may end up wanting to move out. The weather and amosphere is second to none in this area, and would be a good place to retire.
well see,
Mike
