New to pneumatics

Hello all, I'm new at this, so I have some questions.

First off, I'm planning on buying Ray's kit to slam the car. That'll be great, but now I am curious about fast bagging it. So....

Can I use stock parts? If so, I need a check valve, a pressure switch w/relay, Ray's kit, hose & fittings. What else?

If I can use stock equipment, do I need to put a dump valve b/w the front two bags & the rear two, or does it dump fast enough through the compressor vent? I assume that is what the spider valve is for, what exactly is it? Any help or diagrams using stock stuff is appreciated.

The simple answer to can you fast bag with stock components is a defininitive "NO!". You really can't even do a semi-fast bag system with stock components. To go "fast", the first thing you need are bigger valves and lines. Next you need a tank and a compressor or two to fill it. The car will drop very slowly through the stock vent solenoid. The spider valve will allow the car to drop faster. The purpose of the valve is to prevent the stock vent solenoid from rusting due to moisture.

BTW, does anyone know how much air the stock compressor puts out? Thanks

Supposedly, it can push over 200psi. I have been running mine at 150psi for years without a problem. It does draw a lot more amps compared to the 150psi rated Viair 450C. I wouldn't suggest running it much higher than that. I would push mine to 160, 175 without worrying too much, but it'll take longer to fill a tank to that pressure.

You can try it first using the stock stuff as I did, but you will most likely come to the same conclusion. It's a lot of work for a "slow" system. You're almost better off with the switch mod. Here's another couple of links for you:

I agree, I will probably wait unitl I can do it all right. Thanks for the info. I am still confused though on the ride height. On one of the pages you posted, you said that the bags went high when raising, that's the only part that doesn't click with me. Do the bags just overfill and the ecu levels it down, or is that just how it is? Thanks.

Is it the master reset switch that raises the car to the correct ride height, or is it totally manual?

I think you are referring to the set-up which used stock components with an additional compressor and an air tank, all controlled by the computer. What happens is that the car is able to lift and drop much faster (I added a dump valve), which ends up being too fast for the computer to react. This isn't a big deal when the car is dumped because it will take time to fill the bags, but when the bags are already pressurized to driving levels, and the car adjusts height for whatever reason, it'll raise the front end too high, a few seconds later, it'll drop too low, over and over...

Now you could work around it a few different ways, but you are ultimately limited in what you can do.

Understand that my car has been through many different stages of modification and much of the info posted in those pages is dated. It's still good info, but my set-up has changed over the years.
