Ok so I'm sitting at a light on a highway in town and there is this whimpy ass integra revving his barrel of bees. Well I'm sitting behind him and a 1999 LS400 pulls up next to him and a 93 Delsol pulls up next to me behind the Lexus. Well the light goes green and the Lexus and Integra take off like rockets and I have it floored, with the Delsol getting farther behind and the Lexus and integra moving forward and FAST!! I then see up ahead right as I hit 50 or so the Lexus moves over infront of him and continues to pull. He had to have been going 70 while I was at 55. I got to 70 and the Lexus was GONE! I did this on a highway going out of downtown. I just thought I'd share with you guys about what the LS400s will do. I had one and never realized the power it had, until I tried to keep up!! Stay away!!

Eh, racing doesn't do it for me anymore. I mean the LS is a great highway car, power when you need it, but by any means a 15 flat second car isn't something to be beating on. I just like to drive around 5 above the speedlimit and just keep it clean.

I didn't buy my car for racing, and i don't race. It's not my thing. I bought my LS for the head turning ability it has. Everywhere I go at least 1 person says they love the way it looks, and I always catch people looking at stop lights. That's why I love my car.

yea man ..that sucks.. but i test anything at the stoplight.. its why i pay a car note .. to enjoy it once in a while to relieve some stress even though it can cause something to malfunction... just a chance some of us take ... and the great thing about it is that i can still clean her up and turn heads...its all good j3ff enjoy u`r car.

I dont see how a Lexus LS400 can beat a LS so bad? They have the same engine size pretty much and the LS looks like it's really really heavy. Maybe he had something done to it...

Reaction time is a huge part of the stoplight wars. I have my LS and also a Jeep Wrangler. I can dump the clutch on the Jeep and get around just about anyone if i get the jump...

The LS400 has a quarter mile of 14.3 and 300 horepower. Actually it's only like 3800 pounds.

From behind it probably just seemed like he was running away. Hitting the gas later also. A car thats 1 barely 1 sec in the 1/4 mile faster shouldn't run away from you. Just a slow walk, unless its a manual with the ability to launch hard.

Yea he pulled because you had to wait a extra amount of time to go, that makes a big difference. I had a 4 way race way back before I had the LS and my car was the fastest(already proven against the guys 1on1) but sense I was in the back w/ one of them we had to wait a few 10ths before getting on it cause of the boys ahead of us. Finally caught.

Like someone said, enjoy YOUR car, you make the payments so you do what you want. I do not like racing everytime but there are days where you just feel like doing something. The only times I run my car hard is when you guys read about it, otherwise I drive normal and sometimes abit too normal to save on gas.

Definately the best part about the car though is the reaction it gets, albeit I do not like all the attention mine gets. Best part is when the g/f or wife of some shmo checks it out and makes a comment on it and the dude gets mad cause honey likes my ride more(almost caused a fight one day, damn chicks lol).

Im almost 100% positive that I race my car more than anyone on this site and one thing I can tell you is that when I first got my car I drove 5 miles under the speed limit letting everyone get a good look.

That was fun and all...but you should see the looks on EVERYONE'S face, and I mean everyone! Little kids, desperate housewives, young hotties, old gearheads, young hotrodders all drop jaws when my LS rolls in with exhaust ripping louder than most cars in the lot!! :D

Jolinc01...you wanna turn heads??????

You should see the jaws drop when my LS pulls on mustangs, BMWs, Lexus' and other cars not normally beatin by Lincolns.

All I know is that the next time someone says, "yea...those LSs are fast too..." its because of guys like me.

And the next time someone says, "the LS is an old persons car..." its because of guys like Fla02LS

Its an unbelievably satisfying feeling to find that not only does your LS turn heads with its looks but it flat out drops jaws when you make it fast.

I've dumped over $2500 into my LS and I'm as fast as I'm gonna be without nitrous and it just isn't fast enough.

So yea, I'm done suping up, racing, and beating on the LS. I'm getting some 20s, lambos, shaved handles, and a nice paint job.

Then I'm gonna go buy a mid/late 90s Camaro and sup the :q:q:q:q outta that.

i agree man .. u gotta enjoy what u pay for .. some may do it differently to others though..to each is own.. but yea i think i have had my fun and i`m ready to get some 20`s and probably lower it even though it may be a lil bit impractical, and do some paint touch-ups also to get it up to showoff standard..i got my wifes deville if theres a day i feel like riding in comfort or road trips.

Where does that come from? But anyway, I wouldnt say an "Old Person" but more of an ADULTS car, and most of you are still kiddies racing and proving this or that. Thats right, your thinking is a juveniles mentality. At my office, my co-workers and boss have an new Infiniti M45(badass car), Benz S500, Hummers, Bmw's and so on. Never has the topic of "My car is faster" or "Lets Race" been discussed between us. Never. When your a kid certain things matter to you. When your an adult different things matter. Kinda reminds me of the meatheads at the gym who are so huge they couldnt scratch their own ass and benchpress 500 Lbs. When is benching 500 lbs gonna be productive in everyday life? It isnt. Its just stupidity trying to prove something. Also, saying that racing is stupid doenst mean you shouldnt enjoy it. Hell, to some just having a car that the a/c works is enjoyment. I get super annoyed with this particular topic because i see it every single day and ALL of them are little punk ass kids.

So what are guys that drive hummers, bmw's, and lexus's trying to prove? HA! Don't even try and tell me that those guys aren't trying to prove something. I work in an office, I'm going to school for my MBA, I made 35k last year and I just turned 20 years old on Father's Day :D

Not trying to brag but I'm just defending myself aginst your stereotype of a "punk ass kid". No one on here goes around trying to race everything we see. It is just something fun to talk about. Its called living life.

And what is with that senial rant about weightlifting?? I think you need to get out of the office a little more. Have you ever gone fishing? Camping? watched football? Nascar?

By the way...you have no chance against an SS. Well...I take that back. I raced one several times from a dig and a role up to about 100mph and he had me by 3-4 lengths at 60mph...not even close. On the highway I raced him from a 30mph roll up to about 135mph when I gave up...he hit at least 145-150mph but he had a smaller pully and some other minor mods. Either way, I don't think you'd have a chance...just my 2cents

Brag, 35k is poverty these days. If you and the honey both swing it, you can call yourself lower middle class. What does that have to do with what you drive really. Its all in priorities. I could drive a VERY expensive car, but I'm a true car enthusiast, so I choose to have many cars, not so stupid expensive kinds. Jeez, always a pissing match on the LS board.

And once I get my MBA by the age of 25 I'll have the potential to make six figures. Again, not trying to brag. Just trying to punch a whole in Fla's stereotype of these kids that like to drive fast cars really are.

I'm with you on Fla's stereotyping, its quite the broken record. And the naysaying in general gets old.

This LS site has little middle ground, young guys and old. Not really the truth, just the way the posts seem to go.

personally.. i think this whole arguement is a waste of time. i`m 21, i work on 160 million dollar aircrafts ,and i also like to drive fast up to the speed limit sometimes or race someone next to me up to the speed limit.. everyone is different and also enjoys different things. and even if i did try to race everything i saw , that would not make me less of a man than you are. you just have to know the limit. some guys i know do exactly that, and i dont think they are stupid, but i do think they take too much of a chance doing it. some of them work with me and some dont, but they are also good at their job. all in all, most of us work our 8 or more hours daily, and how ever we choose to spend our spare time is up to the individual. just like fla has his own likes, dislikes and opinions, everyone else had the right to choose their own. its called freedom, and it also seems as though fla needs to be exposed to a more diverse group of people.

I guess i started a rant again. Everyone goes off in different directions with things. My mentioning of the cars at the office where simply meant to represent normal people who drive nice cars and never speak of racing them. Had nothing to do with income amount, you guys created that mess. It was explaining that an adult who has a normal job and a family has different priorities in life than whether or not he can beat a Scion. I gotta tell ya, i have two jobs and a family and with all that i got going on, racing some jerk off at a stoplight carries no importance to me. Anyone in here who has any kind of corporate job go ask your boss if they know what angel eyes or eyelids are?. Most likely they wont, their priorites are in other places within their life. Younger kids care about having a good system, and angel eyes and how much horsepower and lambo doors, etc. Those arent the kinds of things that the average adult cares about. Yeah sure, there are probably a few older guys who are still into that stuff but i have to think its not the norm. And the "punk ass kids" was my explaining my personal encounters on the road where i live, not having anything to do with anyone personally in here. If you took it personal then thats your problem. 100% of the a-hole drivers doing the kinds of stuff mentioned are all young kids. Thats a fact, i see it with my own eyes daily, how can you even argue on that. I dont think any other person from Orlando on here would dispute that. Thats the way it is here. Other than that, I mean seriously, the same guy who i claim is a "kid" who has posted this stuff is the same one pranking people putting peanut butter on their car. What the hell is that? Thats stuff i did when i was a KID. Maybe where your from adults go around pranking people with peanut butter but that doesnt happen to much around me. Admit it, your kids, its what you do, but it does irritate us older, more mature, non peanut butter smearing adults. The same way i think at 20 yrs old your a "kid", i am sure their is some 50 yr old guy looking at me like i'm a kid. Whatever. As far as experiencing diverse people, i think Central Florida is a bit too diverse for my liking. But i have been working at House of Blues here in Orlando for a long time. I have worked over 1000 shows and experienced over a million people of all kinds, so no, diversity isnt an issue.

OK, I own a Mercedes and I belong to several groups and forums. They are also for enthusiasts. But the enthuiasm for their cars is much different, you would not see "I got punked by a Tibby" or "I walked a 5.0" or "I was a Scoobie snak =(" on those forums...I made those last two up. The feel of this forum is more like what I experienced with Focus forums. It's not good or bad, just different.

You mention that the LS is't FLA02LS' style, but what style exactly is an LS? There's virtually no aftermarket performance parts...much of what can be done is universal type stuff...xCal, NOS, 03+ mufflers and such. There isn't any manufacturer produced/sponsored performance parts...like Ford Motorsport for the Mustang or even TRD for the Scion for that matter. It seems like the style would be best described as American Sport Luxury Sedan. FoMoCo's intent was to compete with Lexus, Infiniti, BMW and the like, which were the same cars FLA02LS mentioned...it's reasonable to think that the owners/drivers would be like minded.

It's funny that you suggest a Town Car, given the Engine, there are a lot more performance upgrade options for it than the LS.

As far as racing goes, doing it on the track is a far more mature, better and safer option than on the street...not to say that I haven't walked a 5.0 from a stop light;)

Income has nothing to do with it, so your argument is bogus. Its a person's mindset that is important, not income. Fla02 is right. Kids between 17-25 generally like to race around, burn rubber, do donuts, etc., because that type of behavior is fun to them -- that's their mindset. As you mature, behavior that was fun in your early twenties doesn't have the fun factor it used to. Priorities change, mindset changes.

If you don't believe me, just look at insurance rates for various aged males. There is a distinct increase in risk at the low end of the age range, because, as a group, males age 17-25 do stupid things while driving -- like racing from stoplights, etc., which cause accidents.

BTW, I've never made $35K per year.

I'm 17 years old. We do :q:q:q:q to our friends cars to laugh at them... I mean it's not like he was an enemy. Dude, I wouldnt call anyone on here a punkass kid. You've been there and done it, so I don't understand why you would even comment on it if all your gunna do is gripe at how stupid it is. The younger people on here know what I mean. Hell I'm sure EVERYONE AT ONE POINT AND TIME has pranked someone's car. Good god, you act like I'm gunna goto hell for it. And RACING. I mean :q:q:q:q, its no fast and furious :q:q:q:q, I dont go flying down the highway cutting people off and running old people (like yourself) over that are walking in the street. Whenever we take a run it's normally on a deserted road, with little or no cars. During the time I raced the LS400 was 1 o clock and the road had a few cars comming into town and not out. The run before was real late at night, and most of the others are at night. So excuse me for being a "Punkass Kid"...Not sure how messing with my friend's cars, and racing in the middle of the night make me one. I could understand you if I keyed a car, or did nothing but run redlights and run over people, and just drive like a natural idiot. I know forums are for opinions, but just because us "kids" break a law -SPEEDING-, (which you do everyday I'm sure) doesn't mean we are punkass. I stay in one lane, I dont swerve around scaring you people with pacemakers, so lay off me. You may be alot older, but I dont have to respect you for that.

Tell ya what. Go into your bosses office, and ask him what Eyelids for a car are. MY boss knows what they are and hes 69 years old!!! Maybe it's different in FL, but in Ky, even girls know their way around cars, and before you say any damn thing, I'm not a hick and neither is my boss or anyone I know.

If you don't believe me, just look at insurance rates for various aged males. There is a distinct increase in risk at the low end of the age range, because, as a group, males age 17-25 do stupid things while driving -- like racing from stoplights, etc., which cause accidents.

BTW, I've never made $35K per year.

I understand you. But I only do donuts in Sears parkinglot when theres alot of ice. This place is just like a huge 1,000 car parking lot with no light poles. And taking off from a stoplight CAN lead to a wreck, which I wouldnt race on a busy day. I only do it when I think it is clear enough. Meaning no cars that could pull out, and no cars ahead for a very long distance. Anything CAN happen, and I understand that. I'm always ready for someone to make a dumb move, so I'm prepared for it. Burning out is a waste of tire, tranny, tranmission, ect. wear. I just put a grand in tires on my LS and I dont think I'm gunna burn them off. I understand I can wreck, I understand I could kill someone, I understand it all, which is why I dont do it much. I raced maybe 4...5 yes 5!! Cars since january of this year, and that's less than one car a month. I know people who like to race all the time, and some who just want it to drive around like FLA02. I respect what you guys do with your cars, I mean, I could care less if you slapped 20s on it, just like I could care less if you beat a Mustang 5.0. I tell you people MY stories, because I know there are people on here who would enjoy them. To those of you who choose not to like it, then why even take the time to reply to it? Do you just not have your own life to worry about?

This wasn't directed to you Todd by any means, I was just making another point. Sorry if it seemed like I was getting on you about anything.

So how do we go from a "racing" comment, to I got more money than you and stupid little kids? It looks to me like we all still have some little kid inside. Just by going at it you show a slight level of ignorance. I understand that Ford wanted to compete with Lexus, infinity, etc... BUT... They can't. If that was the case, how come 17 and 18 year old guys can afford an 03 LS? Because they loose value and become picnic food for all. I bet you won't easily find a 20 yr old cruising at 65mph in a 03 Benz. But now you see all kinds of people in the LS. That's why it's going out of the line for 2007. You pay 40+ new, a year latter it's worth 15k. I would not have an LS if I work at an office where others can afford Benz and such... So let's not blame the burn out and 360 lovers. They got their butt in the car thanks to the "affordability" of the vehicle and "convenience" of depreciation. Plus, we all have the right to ride what we want as long as we can afford it. If you want to drive it like you stole it, that's your problem. I see 70 year old ladies in the LS all the time and it makes me feel good about it. And remember we all go through it. Remember, just cause you have it, doesn't mean you have to use it. Look at QuikLS... He's doing a monster and admirable job that any kid would love to do, but I know that we won't see videos of him doing burn outs at a stop light like a rookie or racing the first camaro that pulls next. So if you read a comment and you don't like it, don't go personal to the poster, that's why I'm not listing names of people in this thread. I took my nos system out of my LS because my son was born in may, now, that's a life changing event, so I grow and mature with it, but I can't change other people's mind and I won't deny it, I still rev my LS once in a while and go at it when some idiot provokes me, but always put first things first. Safety and life. So, enjoy your cars everyone, a Benz, Lex, Bmw, or the beauty LS. It's only good for so long...

I mean, let's face it. With all the problems the LS have, it should have been a clear recall car all over the US. But Ford Didn't want to do that. The car leaks oil into the plugs (have to replace the gaskets and change plugs), the coils go bad (misfire hell), the windows roll and fall out of the railings, the clock-spring goes bad (steering wheel controls won't work and the srs light blinks with a code), the heat core for the seats burn out, the climate control goes ape crap by itself (one side cold the other hot), starts to vibrate due to improper balancing (must use the most expensive balancing method, hunter's), overheats-engine power reduced out of nowhere on a normal day, some models need to be re-flashed by Lincoln to solve tranny issues and cooling fan adjustments (cost $100)... I'm sure I'm missing more, but really, can we call this Luxury? talk about reliable... you don't find that in other similar priced competitors. Is it worth sacrificing reliability for looks? Not when your car is worth less than you owe on it! I'm glad I paid mine off, cause I couldn't imagine having to deal with all the repairs and a car payment plus $50 in gas every 4 days.
