Can i get some response from anybody if they did the air box mod on a v6? I want to do it to my car, just want to know what to expect as far as power gains/ losses, gas mpg or any problems. If i do this should i get a K&N filter? Thanks for any input.

It will definitely make a difference. Put in a K&N and open up the bottom half of the airbox and you'll get appx 5-8 HP if your car is '00-'02, little less if it's from '03 on.

So i just went ahead and did it. I didnt notice any HP gain but it made it sound a little more meaty. I like it.

I have tried a feww different setups and i have kept the stock cutout box with a k&n filter. It isnt going to add noticable hp but it will free up your throttle response alittle and create more engine growl. If you are using a stock paper filter i would recommend a k&n.
