steering wheel shakes when braking

my 94 mark has about 114k on it finally. i figured that the front end probably needs to be gone through. but it started to shake bad (steeringwheel) when i step on the brakes, the harder i step the worse it is. anybody that can offer help would be greatly appriciated. need to get it fixed, my daughter cruizez with me to much to have my vechile unsafe.

my 95 did the same thing new brakes and rotors and problem solved these cars are famous for warped rotors if you dont torque them the rite way they will warp

Yep same thing here, just got my rotors and pad from R1Concepts on Thursday and if the rain lets up today i will be putting them on

Definitely rotors, could be ball joints.

I'd put my money into some new rotors... then I'd go ahead and do, upper control arms, lower ball joints, inner and outter tie rod ends. And take a good look at all your bushings while you're under there!

Yep same thing here, just got my rotors and pad from R1Concepts on Thursday and if the rain lets up today i will be putting them on


I put mine on two week ago. I love them.

Don't forget to add anti-squeak compound and use new bolts on the caliper bracket!

i have a question....when i open and then close passenger door in my 95 mark VIII....the comp in the car says the door is ajar....and it takes like a week maybe more for it to reset...anyone ever have that prob....any solutions....?

are you saying the light stays on all the time on the message center saying door ajar if that is the case get some wd40 spray it in the lock mechanism and after that get some silicon and do the same thing all these cars and alot of ford vehicles are prone o that prob it happened to me and that is how i fixed it and anyone hear will tell you yhe same thing good luck

actually, spray down in the latch just hose the hell out of it and it will run down into the door switch, not nit picking just wanna make sure he sprays in the correct spot

go into your photo program and resize the pics, sorry kinda new at the pics thing cant tell ya much more

Staying on topic:

CBecker, I know it's been 10 days since you posted this, but I wanted to warn you.

I recently changed my brake pads without doing anything to the rotors. My steering wheel wobbled back and forth when I braked. Also, my brakes squeaked really bad. The pads had a bunch of meat left on them, but I was going nuts from the noise. After replacing the pads with some $13 cheap-O's from Autozone, the noise AND the wobble disappeared!! Like friggin magic!!!

Try some new pads before shelling out a bunch of money for rotors!
