Well, for those of you that know, I had to buy a new (well new to me at least) motor because of a problem with my motor. So, I picked up my new motor the other day, and started cleaning it (it has been sitting in a salvage yard for some time...so there is ALOT of corrosion on the block and everywhere else). So, you will see in the following pix that I did a bit more that I had planned.

The biggest problem that I had was that I HAD to take the fuel rail off of the motor. You see, it is a 94 motor and I have a 93 motor. Now, you would think that they are all the same........NOOOOOOO, they are not. The 93 motor was the test bed motor for the Cobra motor as we know it now, so what they did was parts source certain parts off of the 93 Mustang.......the fuel pressure regulator....the 93 Mark VIII, and the 93 Mustang both have a 3 bolt flange pressure regulator, whereas the 94 and up have a 2 bolt flange pressure regulator. So, the removal of the fuel rail was necessitated.

I also removed the whole wiring harness from the donor motor mainly because I upgraded the wiring on my car, and the wiring that was on the donor motor had some water infiltration.

I just wanted to put the motor in the car, but being the person that I am, I decided to polish the livin hell out of the front of the motor. I tore apart the intake manifold and I will have it sand blasted on Monday, and then I will polish the rest of it. And since I had the intake manifold off, I decided to clean up the top part of the motor that is not normally seen when the motor is totally bolted together. I even knocked down the corrosion that was on the side of the heads next to the intake so the corrosion is not visible (and partially polished it as well).

I took a few brackets off and painted them either silver (the brackets that are not that visible are silver) or the Mirage paint that I have on the interior panels of the car. I will most likely take the valve covers off, but not at this time, I will take them off of the other motor (the one that is still in the car) and have them blasted and powder coated.

For those of you that know......you know....LOL. For those of you that do not, here goes......LONG story short....someone messed up when they did the spark plug change at some time, and crossthreaded the spark plug hole on the #6 plug. They put a thread saver/helicoil in the place but did not install it correctly. To install one correctly you have to have the head off of the engine so you can strike the back side of the thread saver/helicoil so as to drive it into the metal.....which they did not do, so instead they JB Welded the plug in place.

So, when I went to do the spark plug change I found out this lil prob and could not do it correctly myself (I was not about to take the head off of the car....at least not at that time). So I got it as tight as I could (made quite a few passes down the track 1/8 and 1/4 mile) and went about my business. Then on the past holiday weekend I went to Indy, and at the exit I needed to get off on, the thread saver/helicoil finally decided to fail causing blowby around the spark plug pushing the wire off.

To have the car make it back to Pittsburgh, I JB Welded the plug back in place like it was before. I got to my exit in Pittsburgh, and the JB Weld let go and I had the same problem. So, instead of buying a new/used head and spending the money to have it installed correctly (even IF someone around here....besides the dealership.....could install it it would have cost prolly close to what I payed for the motor). The motor I picked up has only 82K on it, but has been sitting for a while (hence the corrosion on the block and other spots).

I appreciate it guys, but I have been sidelined due to my dad's dad passing away on Sunday. So, I will be returning to the removal/installation of the old/new motor.

Matt.....I am going to purchase some high temp clear, or maybe get some of that Zoops Seal and see how that works. I am not going all out on this motor (even though it will be in the car for some time) because I plan on rebuilding the other motor, and I plan on going all out on that one. I will most likely remove everything and get a good portion of it jet-hot coated, so it will look like chrome, but never have to worry about it, except to clean it.

Well.....after a few problems, and some detailing, I got the motor in the car today. It is just sitting in there and not bolted, but it will most likely be tomorrow (IF it does not rain). I am waiting on a few bolts for the bellhousing, but other than that, it should be done by Friday...........hopefully!
