I'm going to put Hoen Xenonmatch Plus Highbeam bulbs in my foglights and I was wondering if any of you guys had a few pictures if you have done this? Has anyone had problems without the special connectors running plus bulbs?

Hey Quik, are these regular headlight bulbs you guys are talking about or something else, I haven't heard of this.

just a word of caution I did this on my 03 (silverstars) and my drivers side housing melted and the passenger is starting. I know the design pre-03 was different so maybe that's why I'm the only one complaining.

The issue is wattage. The stock fog light bulb (9145) operates at around 45 watts. The 9005 Hoen Plus bulb operates at 60 watts so it should not "melt" the connector. Now, the 9006 and H11 Hoen Plus bulbs operate at 80 watts and will definitely melt the factory connectors. That's why we sell the HD connectors for the 9006 and H11 bulbs. I know that Sylvania has a 9145 bulb now in the Silverstar but I don't know the wattage of that one.

The 9145 Hoen bulb operates at 45 watts and should be all you need for the fog lights.

Right - using the 9005s in the fogs instead of the 9145s.

Like Ken said - be careful - I upgraded my headlight to 7000k blueish looking bulbs and wanted my fogs to look the same - so I put in a set of the 9005s in the fogs. It's been a couple of years - no problems.

Just to clarify, I used the silverstar 9005's. The connectors are fine. The housing in the front (the clear plastic lens) is melted about the size of a quarter directly in front of the bulb.

So in time if it melts the stock connectors, I can just order some Hoen connectors and it won't be a problem, right?

Hoen doesn't make an HD connector for the 9005 bulbs. They only make them for the 9006 and H11.

Right, but I ordered the 9005's which I'm not worried about, and the 9006's.
