i have a 1998 caddy sls the traction control button is in the glove box if i turn it off the car starts in second gear if i leave it on it slows me down so much at the line is there anything i can do to make it start in 1st gear with the traction off.

i tried turning the traction control off on my 97 as well. same thing happened. but its a hassle having to turn it off everytie you restart the vehicle, how can you bypass this?

Starts in second gear with the TC DISABLED?? Whats that all about. My 97 doesnt do that.

I'm pretty sure that I have read that it defaults to 2nd gear to save you from yourself! :confused:

My '99 sts basically doesn't disable TC. You can turn it off with a button on the console, but if you get wheelspin, it turns still engages. Always seems to go thru all 4 gears, on or off.
I guess the programmers think they know best... ;)
