My tranny is spewing like a sive. I took it into Cottmens and they said I need a soft rebiuld(1300.00). I'm not a rich man and I'm wondering if anyone has any other options I might pursue (except a used tranny). Sense I'm going to have to spend the money, I would like some advice. I will go with a stall convertor. I have read many threads and have seen many opinions, But I would like to have some direct perspectives. I have a 96 LSC(3.27 gears) what stall and what shift kit? Again I'm not wealthy, So I (you) have to keep that in mind. Also any other recommendations that I should do while I'm doing it, would be appreciated. I'm looking at down the road going to 4.11's and a new drive shaft as well.

ok, first of all never go with cottman. they gave me a new tranny $2k when all i needed was plug wires....dont shoot me, i was young and 100% ignorant about cars. secondly...find out just why they want to rebuild it, and what do you mean spewing like a siv? also...you want to get a stall, and all that good stuff. talk to geno, hes got a $1650 trans thats bulletproof with a 2400 stall. i got it, and i sure am glad i did. dont know about shipping and all, but im sure you could arrange something with him....ONEBADMK8 is genos handle incase you didnt know.

Fortunately, I don't need plug wires(just one more thing to spend money on). Like I said, It's spewing. Front, Rear, Pan and where the shifter linkage connects. The car got very hot (long story) Sense then she's been leaking. I was under it and cleaned of all the oil and then took it for a drive. looked under again. Tranny is done! Thanks for the input though. I will think about geno's but I was hoping for a little higher stall 2800 or up.

i could build it myself but 1. trannys arent my strongest suit, and 2...im lazy:p

Thanks Mr. Wilson. I'm looking at down the road going with 4.11 so I will want to set it up for that gear. More than likely. This is kinda why I'm asking for opinions.

i could build it myself but 1. trannys arent my strongest suit, and 2...im lazy:p
you trans is the core,he doesnt sell you a rebuilt,he rebuilds yours while its in his shop.
from what i hear,he builds them RIGHT!!!
