Redwingvksm April 21st, 2006, 08:57 PM I have found that IE is faster that Fire Fox here. I personally would love to experience ALL the things that the web has to offer - not just some. I'm sticking w/ IE, but my roomate loves Fire Fox... buddylee April 23rd, 2006, 02:05 AM Damn, i don't know why i didn't start using this sooner it is way faster than sbc's web browser. I get a lot less problems and it seems faster. being in the Hi-tec valley thats all I hear about is using firefox. Frogman April 23rd, 2006, 08:45 PM This was posted by one of the admins on one of my forums: How to make FireFox Faster This is simple. Works wonders really. Want Firefox to run 2/3 times faster? Course you do. Read on... Here's something for broadband (will have the opposite effect for 56kers) people that will really speed Firefox up: 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them) Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now. I swear it works, pages are loaded in a split second for me now. Very Happy Thats it. pepperman April 23rd, 2006, 08:57 PM Thanks Frogman for the info. | ||||
