Drivers Turn To Pawn Shops For Gas Money

Madison Gas Prices Nearing $3

POSTED: 10:29 pm CDT April 20, 2006

MADISON, Wis. -- Gas stations in Madison are charging nearly $3 a gallon for unleaded gas, which is driving some residents to open their garages, attics and jewelry boxes for extra gas money.

$3.79 today for premium at an Exxon. Refuse to buy at that station, others like a Shell down the road are still $3.39 for Premium. ($3.09 for reg)

I purchased $20. worth of 94 octane at a Sunoco in York, Pa., today for $3.30 a gallon. I just wanted to try the higher octane in my car. Should I have just purchased an octane booster, instead?

I heard some parts of California are paying of $4 a gallon for 87. Some stations are out of gas here, I have run across 2 so far. With oil up to $74.95 a barrel today, you can bet it will continue to go up.

They will still raise the price of gas to match any fuel savings manuevers you do. No matter what, you're gonna pay what they want from you.

Closed at $75.17 a barrel today, I had to go to 5 stations before I could find gas. It's running $2.96 a gallon for 87 here now.

I believe when the refinery's that were knocked out of service by Hurricane Katrina, when they get back into production prices will go down somewhat.

Hi Guys

Heeheehee! I hope you hit $5 a gallon real soon because that will make the V10 Excursion I want about five hundred bucks worth and the sooner you park all your cars the better because that will mean more gas for me to burn.

I filled my Town Car yesterday wasn't quite empty and only took $128, filled my Continental earlier in the week again not quite empty and only took $155, if these gas prices keep on rising I might have to work an extra five minutes a week ;)

Dereck

To my good friend across the Pond. I hope you have gotten the invite to join us at the July meet in Wisc. At the time I wish to raise a glass with you, filling our gullets in celebration, as you enjoy filling your tank and burning some of the least priced fuel in the world.
$155 USD for almost a full tank? Wowsers, thats about my two week food (& drink) budget!

Problem is that we don't have the socialized medicine, rent controls and other things that people in Great Britain have.

I feel your pain. I have taken to riding the Harley to work as much as possible, It gets 40 MPG+.

It is slowly getting to the point that it was becoming economically feasible to buy a lower brand, and add booster. Now thay have more than doubled the price of booster. I am sorry, but there is nobody out there that can convince me that this is not a conspiracy by big oil to break our backs and our spirits.

I can afford the gas, but there are many out there who can't. I think I see a car pool in my future.
