I recently had my windows tinted and was wanting to get the strip across the top also. The guy told me they would not be able to do it because of the dot matrix pattern above the rear view mirror. Anyone else run into this and what did you do?

He just doesnt know what he is doing....I have my whole windshield done...

Ive heard of this many times but its from guys who dont know what they are doing.....My mom had a corvette and the back window has it bad so the wet sanded it to make it stick....But On the LS its no problem...

The ls doesn't have dot matrix on the windshield. Feel it. I would find a new tint guy.

I have mine done. No problems at all, I would get a new tint guy too. I have about 7" of Limo Tint. It made a huge difference.

There is a dot matrix on the '05...but SilverLS, it should have no problems sticking correct??

My 04 LSE does have the dot matrix. And, it does present a problem for tinting as the rough surface does not allow the tint to adhere properly and from the outside it looks like bubbles under the tint. The dot matrix on my car extends around the edges on all windows, but does not impact the tinting film too much as it is only a thin border. The windshield however is a different matter. The pattern goes around the edges and also extends down in a funnel shape in front of the rear view mirror. Don't know how it would look though from the outside with tint.

Mine has the Dot Matrix as well but here are some pics of my tint.
Sorry for the pics it's ben raining today, I did the best I could. The one with the reflection of the camera, you can see the faint line of the dot matrix line, no bubbles or anything. If need be I can roll the LS into the garage and get a better nonreflecting pic.

The ls has the dot matrix on the wind sheild, but it is inside the 2 pieces of glass. Therefore it doesn't affect the tint.

Not on my 04. It is on the inside surface. I have a hard time keeping my Escort mounted to the windshield because my preferred location places one of the suction cups 1/2 way into the substance used to make the matrix. They must have made a change sometime if yours is sandwiched between the layers of glass.

my 03 has the dot matrix and yes I can feel it. then I had the windshield replace (interestingly still has a lincoln logo on the bottom) and it also has feelable dot matrix....

GWL...my '05 has the dot matrix patterns just like yours. So does anyone else have this type of funnel pattern with a tint??
