fastmarkviii April 11th, 2006, 08:44 PM ok guys I am saving up right now to get some tranny work done (clutches, band, converter, and stage two shift kit)
I have some mods done and probably have about 305 horsepower
I want to know what kind of stall I should look for (what range ex. 2200-2600)
thanx guys:steering :steering :wrench
ONEBADMK8 April 11th, 2006, 08:58 PM Edge Racing Converters 3500 stall lock up.
driller April 11th, 2006, 10:19 PM 3500 stall ROCKS!!! :burnout:
Frogman April 11th, 2006, 10:32 PM Agreed...
Well, almost agreed. Got one, haven't installed it yet.
98LSC32V April 11th, 2006, 10:45 PM Frogman, you got the Edge Racing one?
fastmarkviii April 11th, 2006, 11:04 PM ok but where can I get 1 for like under 375? I thought somewhere around 2600 stall would be good, am I wrong? keep in mind I do want a car thats an everyday driver, I need reliablility more than track. but I do want a fast car
Frogman April 11th, 2006, 11:11 PM Frogman, you got the Edge Racing one?
Yes Sir.
MarkVIII93 April 12th, 2006, 02:47 PM IMO, id go with something a bit less radical, especially if the car is daily driven. A 2800-3000 stall would be good enough.
fastmarkviii April 12th, 2006, 04:32 PM ok
MrWilson April 12th, 2006, 05:15 PM not to hijack the thread...but i am no expert in transmissions by any means...someone explain how the stall would effect drivability

There is no such thing as "too radical" when it comes to lock up computer controlled converters simply because the stall never comes into play until you SLAM it. I have had 3500's since 1998 and NEVER once had an issue from it.
Ask anyone that has driven in my car, they almsot cannot believe I have a stall converter in it because you can't feel it.

It doesn't it's that simple Andy.

well my buddy had a 3200 in his MCss and it was a lockup and it was A$$ on drivability
fastmarkviii April 12th, 2006, 05:42 PM I heard its better to overstall than understall though thats y Im afraid of getting one as high as 3500

Excuse me I meant the 4R70W transmission only.
Andy you drove in my car several times, can you tell the trans isn't stock except for the slamming 2nd and 3rd gears.
I can take you in the Sattalite at the shop with the ATI treemaster 4500 stall and there is some serious divability issues these, its apples to oranges.

Of course thats true. I want to reconstruct my reccomendations for clarity purpouses. I would ONLY use as high as a 3500 with either 3.73's or 4.10's and lower.
98LSC32V April 12th, 2006, 06:11 PM Geno what type of tranny cooler do you reccomend with the 3500 stall converter? Also, do you need a shift kit or is jacked up line pressure via chip fine with the high stall converter?

I use the Powerstroke trans coolers on ALL our trans jobs.
Shift kits are always fun but not needed.
