I got the new K member

And I have to send it back already...

they forgot to add a swaybar mounting bracket provision. So, back to AJE it goes to have that added.

ugh.

Other than that, the construction and workmanship look great.

Did I mention I'm not thrilled about this?

What are all the advantages of the tubular K member?

Jibit

mostly weight, extra room (headers), probably stronger

Frogman

Weight Savings, stronger, and easier to work on lower engine parts/accessories.

Ok, heres an even better question. How much does a beauty like that cost?

Frogman

A little under 10 bills, and that includes the lower A arms.

Well, in my case, a little over 10 bills, because I gotta send the effing thing back for them to fix it.

does that mean just under 1000 dollars?

Yes sir.

$978 and some change, IIRC.

It looks like it will need reinforcing. Didn't someone on LOD have to do that?

Did they jig that thing up so they can reproduce it for other cars?

Those AJE K-members aren't known for their strength. I would be careful around potholes and the like, especially on such a heavy car. I've installed 9 tubular K-members at this point in my life, and I LOVE the benefits they provide, but they make me just a little bit nervous.

Paul.

Can you drop your oil pan without pulling the engine, in that beauty?

What is the K-member?

JC1994

well it's basically the front end of the car, the engine and suspension bolt to it and it bolts to the front frame rails.

What is the K-member?

Certainly not a K-mart shopper!

I never did much work to my suspension other than change my bags and upper and lower control arms. Is the K-member something that needs replacing over time? Or are they mostly upgraded to improve performance?

weight savings and rigidity are the benefits of a tubular K-frame. :D

do you have to use the factory style bags or can you use a custom setup like coil over shocks made for racing?

For all the folks on here that have been repeating the same thing...

THAT K-MEMBER IS NOT STRONGER, OR MORE RIGID THAN A STOCK ONE.

*Men's Warehouse Voice*

I guarantee it

Paul. :)

I remember than ponyfreak had to do a lot of reinforcement with it when using it on the white car.

But he did say that the space was completely unparalleled.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVE tube K-members, and have them on all my cars, but they're still not as strong as the stock one. :D
