Bought my 2003 ultimate three weeks ago. Second day, the power liftgate thinks its ajar all the time (so no interior light shutoff). Now, it wont open or close under power at all.

Any thoughts on what I can check or does it need to go to the dealer?

I had this prob also as a new owner. Go to the glass lift gate, and shut it. The glass part of the lift gate probably accidently got pushed, and popped open.

There are some TSB's out by Ford, regarding liftgates.
Check and I'll bet your problem is one of those.
Mine would autoreverse for no reason.
The module had a glitch and if the outside temp was over
a certain degree the sensor would malfunction.
Check the TSB, s at the Ford Truck enthusiats site.

Thanks guys. It actually fixed itself (for now), but I have printed out the TSB and will keep them handy for the next time it happens.
