Motor is almost ready to come out.

Yes, I know, the garage is a mess.

The only thing left are the motor mounts.

I have two quick questions for the motor pulling gurus:

1. Are the tranny cooler lines bolted to the block anyhere?

2. Does the Torque Converter absolutely have to come off the flywheel, or can I pull the motor with the converter on the flywheel?

Thanks much.

If its like the SOHC in the thunderbirds, there should be 3bolts holding the mount to the block. The bottom fwd bolt, should have a metal tab attached to it. This is clamp for the cooler lines.

There is no reason to remove the engine with the converter. There should be an inspection plate on the fwd bottom side of the bellhousing. Held in by 2 bolts. Behind that housing, you can get to the converter bolts. Should be 4 or 5 of them. You will just have to rotate the engine, to get to all of them.

AHD, Thanks for the heads up.

I REALLY didn't want to mess with the TQ and unbolt it from the flywheel, but I guess I will have to. Incidentally, IIRc there are four bolts holding the TQ to the flywheel.

You are correct frog man, 4 bolts holding it to the flywheel. BTW, you don't need to remove the mounts completly from the engine to remove it. It can be pulled up far enough to clear the X member saddles and then pull away from the tranny.
