LSCGODDESS98 March 18th, 2006, 02:20 PM OK GUYZ..I TRIED TO FIGURE OUT BY MYSELF...BUT THIS IS RETARTED ...
I NOTICED THAT MY COMPASS IS READING THE WRONG DIRECTION...IF IM GOIN EAST..IT SAYS WEST..NORTH IS SHOWING SOUTH..AND SO ON...
I HAVE TRIED TO CALERBRATE MY COMPASS LITERALLY 10 TIMES,BY PRESSING THE COMPASS BUTTON AND HOLDING IT DOWN FOR A FEW SEC,UNTILL IT SAYS CIRCLE SLOWLY..,AND THEN HIT RE-SET..OK IT SHOWS ON THE SCREEN OK CIRCLE SLOWLY TO CAL..OK I DID THAT ONCE,2 X,THE 3X..EVEN AT TIMES SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT,AND REPAEATING IT...AND STILL NOTHING HAD CHANGED...WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS?..I MADE SURE I WAS IN AN AREA WHERE THERES NO BUILDINGS,TREES,ANYTHING TO BLOCK IT'S PATH...AND STILL NOTHING... :confused:I WAS THINKING ABOUT TAKING THE BATTERY TERMS OFF AND RE INSTALLING IT...U THINK THAT'LL WORK?
REALLY NO MAJOR ISSUES AT THIS TIME EXCEPT FOR THIS ANNOYIN THING...ANY SUGGESTIONS...

9_8_L_S_C March 18th, 2006, 03:44 PM Anything magnetic near the compass-anything new in the car that would throw it off-that is the usual culprit.
John Hubertz March 18th, 2006, 07:56 PM Perhaps your personal magnetism? Maybe you have a male compass? :)
LSCGODDESS98 March 25th, 2006, 11:13 PM Perhaps your personal magnetism? Maybe you have a male compass? :)

my95mark8 March 27th, 2006, 09:42 AM I think you have to hold the gas pedal to the floor while you circle.
Just kidding.

Sure enough ...that fixed mine.
Terrance March 27th, 2006, 04:13 PM Forget the circling routine, Find a street that you know for sure runs True North & South, park facing North and follow the manual for setting it that way, worked for me, besides the circling method will get you magnetic north instead of true north, park the car & set it.
Dr. Paul March 27th, 2006, 05:58 PM The "Caps Lock" key is located just to the left of the "A" key.
pepperman March 27th, 2006, 06:02 PM Dr. Paul, The GODDESS always does that.

:thread hijack:
Never heard of that - and isn't magnetic north "true north?"
I'm quite lost here - mind explaining the concept agian? :shifty:
Also - godess, it does sound like your module is takin' a crap on ya. 2 options.
1. Just read it backwards (NE=SW, N=S, etc...)
2. Order the new Module (probally the best choice for looks, not for the walle though! :D)
LSCGODDESS98 March 28th, 2006, 07:07 AM well i do depend on my compass when going somewhere i never been before...so for a modual..where it it located(hmm..is it somewhere in the dash, and how much am i lookin in price?
Terrance March 28th, 2006, 04:12 PM RedWing:
The magnetic north pole is a bit south east of the true north pole. Depending on where you live the variation or declination can vary. In the Pacific Northwest it is off by 19.5 degrees east. If you happen to live near the line of longtitude that passes from the true north down thru magnetic north you would not notice any difference. If you have ever seen a nautical chart it shows a compass rose with both magnetic & true north readings. In order to navigate from compass readings to chart course you must always add or subtract the variation depending on what part of the earth you are sailing on. All compasses point to the magnetic north which is not necessarily true north.

It's in the trunk, in the vicinity of the stereo amplifier.

Redwingvksm March 28th, 2006, 10:25 PM Oooo - ok.
I rember when I had my Jeep I had to set up the compass and it asked for the region I was in and the owners manual had that exact same pic - just with zones 1-9 for the selection!! OK - thanks! :)
I bet you're just gonna need a new module LSCGodess - it really does sound like the computer is just confusing itself
Dominus March 29th, 2006, 07:53 PM If you stop typing in all caps, it will fix itself. Seriously.
pepperman March 29th, 2006, 07:55 PM Dominus, that is the way she is.
