my question is about 255/50/16 not 255/60/16
What I am worried about 255 on a 6 inch wide rim?

and rubbing stuff like that ,

So has anyone run that size on a stock rim?? or should I go looking for a narrower tire.

I thought the Mark wheel is 7", and that tire can go on a 7" wheel. Can't say for sure but I think you'll be fine as far as rubbing as my wheels are 265wide on a 9.5" rim and the fronts only rub at full turn and the back did need some fender rolling, but thats alot wider rim than stock. The 265 on 9.5" has got to be a considerable amount wider than a 255wide on 7". Someone has had to of done it. Alot of guys have ran 275s on 9" wide too.

255 on a 16 inch rim?
I once read on another thread that the rim should never be less than 80% of the width of a tire or you may experience noodly or squiggly tires especially when cornering. The 7 inch stock rims on stock 225's tires works out to 79% which is borderline. 7 inches is 177.8 mm which is 79% of 225 mm. Do the math and you will see that 7 inches is only 70% of 255 so you may very well end up with squiggly tires. To increase tire width and maintain good control you may wish to use wider rims.

If you go to BFG website you will see that they do offer their Sport tire and also suggest a rim width of 7-9".

You got it, should be fine. It'll have that fat tire look. Opposite mine which are about as narrow a tire you can put on a 9.5" rim. So the tire is more rolled under.

what kind of rims are those?

I like the fat tire look because it saves the rims on curbs.... and the rollover won't hurt a thing except transient cornering response (what is called "turn-in"). Keeping them 3 psi or so over the recommended inflation will reduce this but center wear will increase.

Performance Wheel Outlet is where I got mine, they're out of business now. Someone took over but seems like 17" CobraRs are all they have, not the 2000CobraR (Y2K) ones like mine and no 18" at all.
