on stock 17s..would this fit: 225/50/17

i believe stock was 235/xx/17

there are lots of combinations, but the two from Lincoln are:
o OEM 235/50r17
o Lincoln alternate 245/45r17

Stock is 235/50/17. Why would you want a skinnier tire?? Your speedometer would be off by 1.5% (fast).

the 1.5% difference isn't much for better than stock tires (which are dead).

so 225 won't be a problem?

the skinnier tires would be slightly better for you in snow driving, but it would throw off your speedometer and possibly some other things. Your odometer would show more mi/km than is actual after the whole life of the tires.

they won't look very nice either. If you can choose, go with 245/45/17s or 255/45/17s.

I have 235/45s on mine. The speedo is off by like 6 MPH though.
