Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rugs

I'm wondering if the carpet for the gen. 2 is the same floor pan layout as the gen. 1 ONEBADMARK mentioned that they don't fit. But I just noticed on ebay for the molded carpet it says 93 to 98. I'm not questioning ONEBADMARK by any means. Its just that I have a 98 and it looks the same. I want to put it in my 96. But I would hate to go through all the trouble and find out that there's some small difference.

Any ideas?

I can think of what might be so different, but can't say I been around alot of GenIIs. What would be the benefit.

It's in perfect shape. It would save me 150.00.

Having had both ( 95 base -RIP and now a 98 LSC) I think the Trans tunnel is different so the Gen I might not fit a Gen II (too short) but might be OK the other way around - with some trimming.

I am sure someone who has both Gens to compare too can verify this.

There's a thread over in the "User's Rides" forum on markviii.org that talks about swapping a gen 1 carpet into a gen 2. He had to trim the gen1 carpet to fit. He also had to remove some hard foam that shapes the gen1 tranny tunnel. The gen2 doesn't have the hard foam.

Here's a link to the thread..

Thanks for the info guys. I always trust what ONEBADMARK has to say. So I'm not surprised he was correct. Thanks again for the input.
