Seat Cover exchange Left/Right

Anyone ever try to put passenger side covers on a driver's side on a Gen 1? So many parts cars have MINT passenger seat leather and pads - it would seem possible (from looking at the outside) to pull the covers and pads and use them to rebuild the driver's side.....plus these pieces are light enough to ship with UPS.

How hard are these seats to remove from the car and disassemble?

PS: Ordered a "factory" CD manual from a guy on ebay (yes yes....I saw a week later it is online too....) DAMN that is a skimpy little manual - almost no illustrations..... are there better ones? I'm used to photographs and step by step dissassembly illustrations and exploded diagrams (Mercedes).... (Or cry-towels and valiums (Jaguar)):D

There are better ones, but they are expensive.

as being the main int. tech at my job i say not that bad to r+r seat covers never done a VIII tho but they are pretty much all the same just work slowly, make sure the leather is warm 60-70 degrees,be sure to cut the rings attaching the cover to the foam and make sure you have new rings just go to like a farm and fleet type store and ask for "hog rings" thats what the factory uses its what they tag hogs and stuff with, i dont know im not a farmer. as for the pass fitting on the driver?????????its poss just check for holes for your seat controls and make sure that the holes around the hinges are the same and if so it should work and be sure to let us know if it does so everybody can buy up all used pass seats
