Hey. Once in a while my power trunk doesn't work...with the remote, or with the button on the driver's door. When I press the trunk button on the remote, the tail lights blink, and it stays closed...no clicks, nothing. I have to open it with the key, then it starts working fine. I wonder what is causing this.
Earlier today I was going to put a screwdriver back in the trunk of my car, and got distracted. I put the keys in the trunk, and the screwdriver in my pocket :slam This was one of the times it decided not to work.

Had the exact same problem with my '96.
The problem was with the bundle of wires that come up on the left side of the trunk compartment, to the hinge, then into the trunk lid.
Where the wires come out through the trunk liner they had rubbed on it and worn through one of the wires. Spliced the wire back together, no more troubles. I also did a little work to ensure the wires didn't rub there anymore!

Same on my old 95 base- just rubbed the wire a little. It was enough to cause an intermittant issue.
