How do i bleed my brakes?

Hi, got a problem..

I think the pressure switch on my brake system has gone bad. I get a very hard pedal, with no power assistance, but NO warning lights. I did used to get warning lights (ABS) but no ill effect on brakes, now just no power assistance as described.

I was advised the first thing is to renew the brake fluid. How do i do this with out the system pressurising? I tried bleeding it like a normal car, but when i opened the passenger side rear bleed screw, nothing came out!! Is this normal?? or do i have another problem with the rear brake. I loosened the drivers side bleed screw and the fluid trickled out.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link, i cant follow it though because i have no brake pressure so i am trying to fault find that first. I have checked the relay for the hydraulic pump motor, if you pop the top off and press it in, ther motor runs, however, the diode is blown apart. What does this diode do? i took the relay out and operated it by putting voltage accross the coil and it still seemed to work.

Does anyone know where i can buy a relay online? The ford dealers in the UK cant seem obtain this part.

Thanks

You're pretty much S.O.L. on that one. This is typically a junkyard part. With any luck you can throw a "WTB" thread on the forums and someone should pull through for you.
