LS Later Mile Reliability???

I am hopefully buying a 2001 V8 black on black fully loaded LS this weekend with almost 70000 miles. My dad is helping me out with buying it and he was talking to me about how he believes once the car gets to 100000 miles it will cause alot of problems and wont last very long. I am currently going to be going to college in september and was hoping this car would last me all throughout college till i get a masters which would range to almost 6 years. Can this car go to 130-150k without giving me major problems that will cost me alot of money to fix. I have seen some of the cars that people have here and would love to spend some money on mine to get it to look like a mixture of some of yours but if it wont last that long it may not be worth it to put alot of money into that car.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have close to 83,000 miles on my LS. I have not had any major repair issues with it so I'm expecting it to be that trouble free for another 15,000 miles. However, things like brakes, shocks, tires and items that wear out are normal for ANY car. I do plan to replace the valve cover gaskets and seals in the spring.

I would assume that you should get another 50K miles out of it without any major problems. Just take care of it and do regular maintenance on it. Remember to get a CarFax on the car before buying it.

Ya things that go on any car im not going to be worried about at all i was just trying to see if i would be able to put some of my money into the car to make it look better istead of having to save it all till when the car breaks.

Thanks for the help

You could take the car to a Lincoln dealer and see if you could purchase an extended warranty through them. Just an idea to try out. Also I would imagine that as long as the car checks out w/ a carfax report and you have a mechanic look it over and it get the thumbs up there should be no reason the car couldn't go another 70k. There may be some small issues but every vehicle experiences some issues. I have had some of my vehicles come close to 300k with no major work. Take care of your ride and it will take care of you. Good luck

If you are buying the car from a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer they can run an OASIS report on the car. This will tell you what items were replaced/serviced at any Ford dealership on that particular Lincoln LS. Unfortunately, this will not apply if it was worked on by a non-Ford repair shop. If you are buying it from a non-Ford dealer then you can call Lincoln's customer service number and they should be able to run the report for you.

Good luck!

That dealer you're going to is a little sketchy..

make sure you inspect everything about the car. I took a look at a few there including that one and was not impressed with them at all.. The chrome on the front bumper was pealing off.. the rear bumper was cracked.. the inside had 4 studs in the middle consol because of some one bolting up their cell phone holder.. there was a big stain on the seat.. cig burns.. lots more

he had a few cars and they all looked like trash to me... not worth the miles..

that's why they're so cheap there.. you get what you buy

I found one at Midway that was in much better condition with similar miles.. and they offered a 2 year warranty.. keep looking they're around.

not all of them can be found online either.

i already see a problem... not a big problem but a common problem... the back passenger side tail light has a leak (you can tell because the bottom is all black compared to the red it should be)... this happened to me and a few other i kno of, very simple to fix or you can purchase a new tail and get it installed... i would have them get you a new tail before you take it
