Canepa Design Lincoln LS

This car is available for purchase for someone wanting a "one-off" Lincoln LS. It's pricey but could be a nice addition to the garage. I was approached by the current owner, Gene Felton. He called me this morning asking if I wanted to purchase it. I told him I'd love to but if I did I'd be sleeping in it. Hence, the wife unit would make me leave the house. Anyway, I told him that I would post it here on LVC for anyone wanting to purchase it. You can see the pictures below and the description of the car. He said he was asking $50K for it but could be had for cheaper I'd imagine. His contact number is 770-594-9660. Canepa Design's website is:

http://www.canepa.com/SportsLuxury/Showroom/LincolnLSGallery.asp

It's basically a 2001 LS Sport with the LSE appearance package. That pretty much ends the similarity. Canepa states that the car was recalibrated with a Roush ECM to produce the HP and torque they advertise. The car was slated for the Jaguar supercharger but Jaguar got their panties in a bunch and didn't want it in the LS. Bruce Canepa backed down since this was a Ford commissioned vehicle by the Premier Automotive Group. He went to Roush and had them configure an ECM for the LS. Here is the spec sheet on the car:

Canepa Design has taken America’s best touring sedan and created a “tuner” version that will rival any of Europe’s well known high performance luxury sedans.

EXTERIOR FEATURES
- LS Sport redesigned front bumper/spoiler with integrated road lamps.
- LS Sport restyled side lower skirting.
- LS Sport restyled rear lower skirt surround with dual exhaust openings.
- LS Sport rear deck lid composite spoiler.
- Canepa Design custom paint finishes including monochromatic grill cover and deck lid surround trim, argent metallic greenhouse window moldings and titanium gray matte finish grill insert (restyled by Canepa Design), “LS” logos, rear license enclosure and forged alloy wheels.

PERFORMANCE
- Performance calibrated ECM (Horsepower - 325, Torque - 310 ft.lbs)
- High performance stainless steel dual exhaust system, with rolled lip polished oval shaped exhaust tips.
- Lowered suspension system including pro-kit sport springs, revalved gas pressure struts, increased diameter sway bars, etc.
- Canepa Design forged monolite 1-piece alloy wheels, front 8-1/2” x 19”, rear 10” x 19”.
- Michelin Pilot Sport ultra high performance “Z” rated radial tires, front 245/35ZR19, rear 285/30ZR19.
- Cross drilled/grooved vented brake rotors with high performance composite brake pads.

INTERIOR
- Canepa Design custom interior trim finishes including full Connelly leather seating with perforated inserts.
- Additional leather trim finishes (mixture of perforated and smooth) includes steering wheel, gear shift knob, emergency brake handle and boot, sunvisors, center armrest, and lower door panel trim with carpet inserts.
- Keith Collins sculptured luxury floor carpets.
- Titanium gray matte finish interior trim including steering wheel, door panel decorative trim moldings, dash surround, center dash control panel, and gear shift surround bezel.
- Visteon “state of the art” concept electronics systems including:
----Navigation radio featuring voice directed navigation system and premium audio unit, audiophile level.
----Rear entertainment system including 7” screen, DVD audio source, (center console mounted).
----Showcasing Visteon’s futuristic concept of the next generation in vehicle entertainment. Visteon’s entertainment glasses give end users the ability to view DVD, VCP, games, laptop and other in vehicle entertainment in a small, portable viewing system. This gives the end user the perception of viewing a 52” screen at 6 feet. This technology also gives users the ability to view different sources of entertainment at the same time inside a vehicle.

This one of a kind vehicle was commissioned by Ford Company’s Premier Automotive Group, and designed and built by Canepa Design. Unveiled at SEMA Show this “one-off” show car was built at a cost in excess of $150,000.00

Sorry, no engine pics.

I agree it's expensive but considering it has a ton of "one-off" items and features would make it a real nice show car.

Looks nice. Call me a skeptic, but I do not think there's a chance in hell you could get 75 hp out of an LS with nothing but a chip and an exhaust system.

That is pretty nice. I would want a dyno sheet to prove the power, though. Something I would love to have, but would feel bad about driving.

Yeah, there are some skeptics about how much HP gain they got from just adding a difference PCM. I got over 30 HP from adding a cold air intake and exhaust system so I'm still baffled myself. However, I'd be more than happy to test drive it and find out! :steering

Beautiful car, choice color! :D

But like others, no way an exhaust and ANY ECM tune is going to result in a 73HP increase (saw no mention of a CAI, but it probably has one). I could believe 30HP from a cat-back and CAI. But knowing that the LS's factory ECM tune on the 3.9L doesn't leave much on the table, that other 43HP is not going to happen unless you have one of those little blue bottles in the trunk. That or maybe heads and cam work. Gutted cats maybe?

I'd say prove it, or better yet, show me a timeslip!

Is the silver dash trim purchasable in that exact layout? or is it a sticker application?

I sat in it when it was at SEMA - talk to the folks there. the trim is painted.

there is nothing special about the engine - completely stock - some painted trim pieces. This was years before SCT cracked the PCM.... so even an aggressive tune is in question....

Thanks you've been really helpful for me today, one last question.. Are there any tech sheets on properly removing/unsnapping the panels? I'd hate to start prying and snap a bracket..

What's up with the floor mats? They look like bathroom mats to me.

I was thinking the same thing. That could be where the extra ponies are coming from though, so I am not going to make fun.

Those wheels are simply perfect for the LS. I found the Canepa site but...there's no mention of those wheels.

http://www.canepa.com/home.asp

I suppose they are a part of the one off package? I'll raise the BS flag on the output ratings...there's just no way unless there's more stuff that has been done and not mentioned.

Speaking of wheels...does anyone know where I can get a non-ricer looking 18" 5 spoke, black w/machined lip, medium dished wheel? I've searched everywhere and cannot find anything that looks good enough to put on the LS.

Yeah...I found the Kazera wheels but...I HATE that their logo is in bright yellow on one of the spokes...if that's not a ricer move...I don't know what is. Now...if their logo is removable somehow...I'd like to know. Also, there's the question of quality...who knows how well these are made.

As for the others...I just don't care for the rivited look. I like the clean look of no rivits and no logos...just a black finish with a machined lip (think black ZR1 wheels that were on the Grand Sport vettes).

I know...being picky...but...if I'm going to spend money on these...I want exactly what I am looking for.

I want that rear seat center console display unit between the front seats! Has anyone seen that anywhere as an add on to the stock console?

When Gene Felton first called me with this car he told me that everything on this car was a "one off" meaning it's all custom. They basically took a 2002 Lincoln LSE and added all the items you see inside the car. The only way to get that rear console is to make one. Even the wheels are custom and only one set exists like it. Nice car but a little pricey for what they were asking for it. The car sold quite some time ago. No one knows who bought it.

$50K (last year, according to the post date) is certainly a hell of a lot of money for an LS, but isn't that bad for a show car full of custom equipment. I wonder if they ever sold it, and, if so, what the sale price really was...
