Today I put in a relay in my 1994 Continental to turn off the air suspension when I turn off the car. I did this because the system kept pumping up the back end for no reason when I turned the car off.

Are there any problems with the system being turned off directly after the car is off and not an hour later like normal?

pretty much all you will lose is the leveling ability as you load/unload car. if you have it loaded up heavy, shut it off, then unload it, it might look like a 4wd conti! but other than that, should be no problem, as long as it settles or raises to the right height when the ignition is on.

Well that was really the problem I was having before. The compressor would kick on and push the back end of the car up so high that it looked more like a truck.

This is halarious as I am doing the same exact thing this weekend because my front end drops randomly TO THE GROUND.

Some times it will be fine, have left it for 3 days and no drop, it rarely drops in front on my house, but when I park in a driveway or on an incline it drops to the ground when the cars off for no reason.

Starting to think the height sensors are shotty.


Oh yeah and for your problem, the car is only supposed to drop or let air out when the key is off, not supposed to turn on the compressor on at all as far as I know.

don odds are that one or both of the bags are leaking.the reason it drops is the cracks are getting uncovered and allowing the leaker to blow past.
the front cant support the engine weight if a bag leaks sooo it goes down.

a test:
let the system get level then turn off the air ride and go for a drive.if it stays level after 30 min or so you could be golden(i say could) but if it drops you be leakin bro.

you on the other hand have what sounds like a venting problem.it might be a leveling problem,but id suspect the rears ability to vent on command.
keep checking ebay they do come up usually dirt cheap.
and no it wont hurt to disable the system at night.

Don, the air suspension system is active for up to around an hour after keyoff and all doors closed. the system does drop the car about an inch or so, then at end of the active time, will re-adjust the car to level.

I douby very sersiouly it is a venting problem. The compressor is turning back on and pushing the car to an extreme height after I trun the key off, and most of the time it will let the car down after I turn the key back on.

If I turn the key on while the compressor is coming on then it will stop, like the car knows it is doing wrong.

Also, If it screws up and then I turn the key on, then off again, and it screws up again, it will try to push the car up higher when it can no longer do so, therefore burning up many compressors.
